The government is very interested in accelerating the progress of the Nhon - Hanoi Station railway project, and will not allow further delays as this will lead to cost overruns and low investment efficiency, the Prime Minister instructed.
During an inspection of the Nhon - Hanoi Station railway construction site on the morning of February 12th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh listened to assessments from foreign experts regarding the quality of Vietnamese engineers and workers, as well as measures to accelerate the project's progress.
Vietnam lacks extensive experience in metro projects, so it has to hire foreign consultants and contractors. Therefore, the Prime Minister hopes that foreign partners will transfer technology, provide training, and improve the quality of human resources.
The Prime Minister urged consultants, design contractors, and construction companies to make every effort, mobilizing manpower and machinery to work throughout the Tet holiday with the spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain, eating and sleeping quickly, focusing only on work and not on retreating." The Government, Hanoi, and relevant agencies will continue to remove obstacles to promote the project.
Today, the project site has 40 foreign experts, 100 consultants and supervisors, and 800 workers. Visiting the officials and workers, the Prime Minister hoped they would work better and faster to make up for the delays caused by Covid-19, while prioritizing safety above all else.

The Nhon - Hanoi Station railway project commenced in 2009 with a planned completion date of 2015, but after four delays, the new projected completion date for the entire line is 2027.
The 12.5 km long line, with 8 elevated stations and 4 underground stations, passes through 6 districts: Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Dong Da, Hoan Kiem, and Ba Dinh. The Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board stated that the project has reached 77% overall progress, with the Nhon - Kim Ma elevated section at 99.7%, and is expected to be operational in June.
With the underground section currently at 40% completion, the contractor is focusing on accelerating construction to start tunnel boring in the second quarter. The S12 underground station is the deepest, designed with three levels, 35 meters below the road surface. The remaining underground stations are 29 meters deep and have two levels. Any delay at station S12 will cause delays for the entire project.

Earlier that morning, the Prime Minister visited sanitation workers on Dien Bien Phu and Hoang Dieu streets, thanking them for sacrificing their Tet holiday to keep the capital green, clean, and beautiful. "If we are grateful to these workers for maintaining a green, clean, and beautiful environment, then each of us should dispose of our trash in the right place and at the right time, helping to reduce the hardship and difficulties of these workers," the Prime Minister said.
During his visit to the Yen Phu water plant workers, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of ensuring a continuous water supply for domestic use, production, business, national defense, and fire fighting.
