On the morning of July 30th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked at Samsung Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd., Yen Phong Industrial Park, Bac Ninh province.
Reporting to the Prime Minister , Mr. Choi Joo Hoo, General Director of Samsung Vietnam Complex, stated that the Samsung Group of South Korea has 6 factories in Vietnam specializing in the production of electronic products, smart electronic devices, home appliances, research and development, and technology transfer, with a total investment of approximately 20 billion USD, of which 3 factories are located in Bac Ninh province.

To date, Samsung Vietnam has exported products to more than 128 countries and territories with an annual output of 160 million devices, accounting for 50% of total global production; export turnover in 2022 reached US$65 billion, accounting for 17.4% of Vietnam's total export turnover; creating jobs for more than 96,000 workers; and contributing more than VND 10,000 billion to the State budget annually. Currently, 51 Vietnamese enterprises have become Tier 1 suppliers to Samsung.
Mr. Choi Joo Ho expressed his gratitude to the Government and Bac Ninh province for their support and for creating favorable conditions for Samsung's operations over the past 15 years.
During the meeting, in response to specific proposals and recommendations from Samsung Vietnam, leaders of ministries and sectors affirmed that Vietnam consistently implements policies committed to investors, always paying attention to and prioritizing the improvement of the investment environment; promoting infrastructure development, improving the quality of logistics services, and coordinating with businesses in human resource training… with the aim of creating favorable conditions for foreign businesses to operate stably and sustainably in Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that Vietnam and South Korea have a comprehensive strategic partnership. South Korea is the largest foreign investor in Vietnam, ranking second in tourism and labor development cooperation, and third in trade cooperation. Samsung accounts for 25% of total South Korean investment in Vietnam, demonstrating the company's effective operations in the country.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Samsung for choosing and identifying Vietnam as a long-term strategic investment destination; and for actively participating in social welfare activities, creating jobs, and improving the lives of workers.
Over the past two years, the Prime Minister has made four visits to Samsung's facilities in Vietnam and held five meetings and discussions with Samsung's leadership. This affirms the Government's interest in non-state enterprises, including foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises; a spirit of listening, openness, concrete cooperation, responsibility, and tangible results, bringing satisfaction to both sides, in line with the spirit of harmonizing interests between the State, enterprises, and people, and harmonizing interests and sharing risks between Vietnam and FDI enterprises.
The Prime Minister stated that, in the new phase, Vietnam's development is primarily based on science, technology, and innovation, with people as the goal, the subject, the resource, and the driving force of development. Samsung also develops according to this orientation, so the two sides meet on this grand direction and are confident that they will achieve the same goal.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his hope that Samsung would continue to consider Vietnam as a strategic production base, researching, developing, and manufacturing key products for the international market, operating sustainably and for the long term in Vietnam, conducting business in accordance with the law; contributing to the training of high-quality human resources for Vietnam; contributing to improving modern governance capacity for Vietnam and Bac Ninh province; and contributing to the building and perfecting of the socialist-oriented market economy.
Vietnamese government leaders hope that Samsung will invest more heavily in digital transformation, green transformation, and the circular economy; take better care of the material and spiritual lives of its employees, especially female workers; and focus on training and developing Vietnamese managers and leaders at Samsung.
The Prime Minister suggested that both sides make concerted efforts, be proactive and creative in resolving difficulties and challenges; emphasizing that the Vietnamese Government will continue to create all favorable conditions for the corporation to invest and conduct business effectively, stably, and sustainably, and to continue expanding and developing sustainably in Vietnam.
