Prime Minister requests State Bank to rectify gold price manipulation

This morning (September 6), at the regular Government meeting in August 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh paid special attention to controlling gold prices, directing competent authorities to take action to rectify the situation, not allowing hoarding, price hikes, creating unhealthy scarcity, and manipulating the gold market.

In his opening remarks at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated: In August, the world situation continued to develop in a complicated manner: military conflicts, political instability, and increasing polarization; there were also alliances of forces; trade conflicts continued to be tense, especially after the United States imposed reciprocal tariffs; gold prices, real estate, and the world financial market fluctuated strongly... These all affected the domestic situation.

In the country, people across the country are joyfully and excitedly celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. A series of large, solemn and meaningful programs and events, along with the Exhibition "80 Years of Independence - Freedom - Happiness Journey" and the Parade, marches and patriotic activities were successfully organized, strongly arousing and spreading the spirit of patriotism, solidarity and national pride.

The Prime Minister requested an assessment of the positive changes in the socio -economic situation, with August being better than July, the following quarter being better than the previous quarter, and the first eight months of 2025 being better than the same period in 2024; the cultural and social sectors being focused on, cared for, and promoted. The Prime Minister also requested an assessment of the care for the new school year, organizing lunch for children, reducing tuition fees for students... doing a good job of social security, basically ensuring that no one goes without food, clothing, or school.

The Prime Minister requested an analysis of the pressure on inflation, exchange rates, and interest rates that are increasing; domestic consumption, exports, and public investment tending to slow down; the two-level local government model still faces difficulties in digital transformation, data connection, and difficulties for lower-level officials; natural disasters have severely affected people's lives; and the sharp increase in gold prices is very noteworthy.

The Prime Minister paid special attention to controlling gold prices, directing the relevant authorities to take action to rectify the situation, not allowing hoarding, price hikes, creating unhealthy shortages, and manipulating the gold market; requested that the State Bank's inspectors take active action and, if necessary, the Government Inspectorate must take action.

Regarding the real estate issue, the Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Construction to pay attention to this issue. Regarding securities, if the cash flow goes into the production and business sectors, it is very good, but it is necessary to re-evaluate to see if there are any price inflation phenomena.

Stating the growth target of 8.3-8.5% this year, the Prime Minister requested to renew traditional growth drivers and promote new growth drivers to ensure synchronous and comprehensive development in all fields; review and reduce administrative procedures, especially striving to reduce 30% of the time, quantity and cost of administrative procedures; and strengthen the handling of backlogged projects because this is also a solution to increase resources for development.

The Prime Minister stated that after the end of the Exhibition “80 years of the journey of Independence - Freedom - Happiness”, it is necessary to continue to organize an “Autumn Fair” to introduce and link production and business; urgently prepare to organize a Fair for the Tet holiday to increase the exchange of goods and promote domestic consumption.

The Prime Minister specifically requested that Government members highlight lessons learned and solutions, especially solutions to improve social security, education and healthcare; solutions to respond to external shocks related to climate change and natural disasters; and promptly and strictly handle negative phenomena such as market manipulation, hoarding, counterfeiting, and imitation goods.
