Thuy Chinh: United in building a cultured way of life.

Thuy Chinh is the first commune in Thai Thuy district to have all three villages complete the construction and operation of model community cultural centers. It is also one of the bright spots in the movement for national unity in building a cultured way of life.

The propaganda team of Thuy Chinh commune is practicing a short play on the topic of preventing and combating domestic violence.

Focus on propaganda work

Last June, the propaganda team of Thuy Chinh commune, representing Thai Thuy district, participated in a competition on disseminating information about the Law on Prevention and Control of Domestic Violence and the Code of Conduct in the Family, organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Based on their practical experience in mediation work at the local level, the propagandists from Thuy Chinh commune, acting as members of the grassroots mediation teams in their villages and communes, brought to the competition situations and experiences in preventing and combating domestic violence accumulated over many years. Not only did their enthusiasm and dedication contribute to the competition, but they also significantly helped improve the quality of culturally exemplary families and villages.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuy Chinh commune, informed: "The movement for national unity in building a cultured way of life is a widespread movement. Therefore, to implement it effectively requires unity from the Party Committee, mass organizations, and the understanding and self-awareness of each citizen. That's why each aspect of the movement, such as criteria for building cultured families and villages, implementing civilized lifestyles in weddings, funerals, and festivals, etc., is widely disseminated through various forms with the main aim of making people understand, believe, and voluntarily participate. Besides direct activities, the movement's content is regularly broadcast on the radio system and through visual propaganda, making it easy for people to understand and grasp the information. Thanks to the active involvement of all levels of government, in 2022, 90% of families in Thuy Chinh commune achieved the title of 'cultured family,' with 92.6% of families in Chinh village achieving this title." All three villages have consistently achieved the title of "Cultural Village" for many years. To date, funeral practices in the locality have become more organized, outdated customs have been eliminated, such as offering cigarettes or standing on the street to solicit food; the amount of food prepared at funerals has decreased by 80-85% compared to before. Furthermore, the trend of cremation is increasingly being embraced by the people. In the two years of 2021-2022, historical sites in the commune were renovated and upgraded with a budget of approximately 1.4 billion VND.

Mobilize and effectively utilize social resources.

With the consensus of local people in building cultural life, immediately after the Standing Committee of the Thai Thuy District Party Committee issued Resolution No. 02-NQ/HU, dated November 4, 2020, on leading and directing the construction of model village and residential area cultural houses, the People's Committee of Thuy Chinh commune implemented the project in all villages. With the support of the people, in the two years 2021-2022, Thuy Chinh commune completed 3 model village cultural houses, of which the district budget supported 60 million VND, the commune budget supported 30 million VND, and social contributions from the people and expatriates amounted to more than 1.6 billion VND. Since the cultural facilities were largely built with contributions of funds and labor from the people, activities are now regularly maintained and meet the needs and aspirations of the people.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Tieu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuy Chinh commune, said: "It is very encouraging that cultural, artistic, and sports activities in the villages are vibrant in the afternoons and evenings. At the cultural facilities, the village and commune's performing arts teams regularly practice to serve the propaganda work on political tasks, serve local festivals, and prepare programs to participate in competitions, performances, and cultural and artistic exchanges. Besides long-established clubs such as table tennis, badminton, volleyball, and physical fitness clubs, in recent years, the people of Thuy Chinh commune have been able to access and develop folk dance and recreational volleyball at the village and commune sports fields, attracting many people to participate, increasing the spirit of solidarity, closeness, and strengthening community bonds. The implementation of the movement for national solidarity in building a cultured life has created favorable conditions for the socio-economic development of the locality."

Thuy Chinh commune is one of the exemplary localities with many outstanding achievements in the movement of "All people unite to build a cultured way of life".
