Strong profit-taking pressure prevented the VN-Index from maintaining its positive momentum in the final trading session of the week. Foreign investors also turned to net selling of over 211 billion VND on the HOSE exchange after three consecutive net buying sessions.
The stock market opened quite positively on February 2nd as money flowed into the market, especially into the real estate and securities sectors, causing these two stocks to surge. Subsequently, massive profit-taking pressure pulled the VN-Index back below the reference level by the close of the session.
The banking sector stocks continued to experience heavy selling pressure, resulting in a mixed performance. Specifically, OCB fell 2.03%,SHB 1.29%, VPB 1.83%, TPB 1.96%, VIB 1.94%, CTG 1.09%; EIB, MBB, BID, and LPB all dropped nearly 1%. Conversely, HDB rose 2.52%; STB, ACB, and VCB increased by nearly 1%.
Securities stocks leaned towards the green: VIX increased 1.72%, VCI increased 1.16%, AGR increased 2.08%, APG increased 1.89%, CTS increased 1.13%; SSI, VND, HCM, and FTS increased by nearly 1%.
In the real estate and construction sector, although some stocks saw profit-taking after strong gains during the session, many still performed positively: PDR increased by 4.42%, NVL by 1.8%, NLG by 1.15%, LCG by 2%, HDG by 1.52%, DPG by 1.48%, CII by 1.92%; CEO, HDC, SZC, and DIG increased by nearly 1%. Conversely, KBC decreased by 1.28%, VRE by 1.55%; BCM, NTL, DXG, CTD, VIC, and VCG decreased by nearly 1%.
Manufacturing stocks also reversed course and declined: VGC fell 1.28%, SBT fell 1.12%, AAA fell 1.85%, GIL fell 1.89%, ASm fell 1.43%...
At the close of trading, the VN-Index fell 0.47 points (0.04%) to 1,172.55 points, with 267 stocks declining, 199 stocks rising, and 89 stocks remaining unchanged.
At the close of trading on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also decreased by 0.01 points to 230.56 points, with 92 stocks declining, 92 stocks rising, and 72 stocks remaining unchanged. Liquidity increased again, with the total trading value on the HOSE exceeding 20,000 billion VND, an increase of 5,000 billion VND compared to the previous session.
