Traffic situation in Dong Nai
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Phu, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, commented: Dong Nai province has a convenient transportation system with many national arterial roads passing through such as: National Highway 1, National Highway 20, National Highway 51, North-South railway; near Saigon Port, Tan Son Nhat Airport, contributing to creating favorable conditions for economic activities in the region as well as trade with the whole country; at the same time, it plays a role in connecting the Southeast region with the Central Highlands. In addition, high-speed railway projects, North-South expressway; Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway; Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City also pass through Dong Nai. In addition, there is also a port system with inland waterway ports, Dong Nai seaport; dry port system (ICD), logistics centers and border gate system.
With a strategic location in the Southern key economic zone, the development and connection of the transport system has facilitated the circulation of goods, attracted investment and expanded economic space. Roads, highways, railways and port systems also contribute to reducing logistics costs, shortening transportation time, improving the competitiveness of enterprises and increasing the ability to integrate into the international economy.
Transport infrastructure also plays a catalyst role in the formation of industrial parks, new urban areas and commercial and service centers, contributing to changing the socio-economic face of the province.
The development of transport infrastructure has expanded the economic development space of Dong Nai, helping the province effectively exploit its land potential, labor resources and strategic location. Through the inter-regional and international transport system, goods produced in industrial zones in the province can quickly access domestic and foreign markets; attracting investment in the fields of processing industry, export, logistics, services and trade. This is an important factor helping Dong Nai maintain its role as a growth pole in the Southern key economic zone.
Along with industry, the trade and service sector in Dong Nai has made great strides in recent years thanks to the direct support from the transport infrastructure system. The formation and upgrading of key traffic axes has created conditions for the emergence of many modern commercial centers, warehouses, supermarkets and retail stores.
Transport infrastructure not only improves land exploitation efficiency but also creates momentum for urban and industrial space development in Dong Nai.
In the context of globalization and strong transformation of value chains, the synchronous and modern development of transport infrastructure systems is becoming increasingly urgent to enhance national competitiveness and promote sustainable growth.
Creating a breakthrough in transport infrastructure
According to Associate Professor Dr. Phung Quang Phu, besides its positive contributions, Dong Nai's transportation system still has some limitations that can hinder the speed of economic and commercial development. Traffic congestion on regional connecting routes, lack of synchronization between modes of transportation and the deterioration of some local routes have increased transportation costs, affecting the competitiveness of goods.
In addition, unreasonable planning and slow progress of key projects are also barriers to effectively exploiting the potential of existing transport infrastructure.
To effectively carry out the breakthrough task of transport infrastructure in the next 5 years as stated in the Draft Political Report submitted to the 1st Provincial Party Congress, Dong Nai needs to focus on developing transport infrastructure in a synchronous, modern direction, effectively connecting between modes of transport including: road, rail, aviation and inland waterway. Speed up the progress of key transport projects. Invest in developing railway transport to serve logistics. Promote the development of public transport and modernize transport management. Develop modern logistics infrastructure and automated ports. Accordingly, the province needs to proactively increase the rate of public investment, aiming to spend about 8-10% of GDP on transport infrastructure development. Promote investment attraction in the form of public-private partnerships for projects with great spillover effects such as: highways, railways connecting ports and airports...
Secretary of Trang Dai Ward Party Committee Phan Quang Tuan shared: He is very pleased with the content of developing a diverse, synchronous, modern transport infrastructure system, connecting within the province, regions and inter-regions as one of the province's breakthroughs in the 2025-2030 term.
Mr. Tuan said: To carry out the task of making a breakthrough in traffic infrastructure, it is necessary to not only invest in large-scale, national-scale projects but also pay attention to investing in intra-regional traffic. Without proper investment, the story of intra-regional traffic will not change in the next 5-10 years. Traffic jams in densely populated areas and in urban areas will indirectly contribute to causing negative impacts and stress for traffic participants. Paying attention to investing in intra-regional and inter-regional traffic will also contribute to improving the living standards of the people.
Comrade Vo Tan Duc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said: In the coming time, Dong Nai will focus on building synchronous and modern infrastructure, especially connecting traffic infrastructure, inland waterway infrastructure; coordinating the development of expressway networks, belt roads; connecting synchronous traffic systems between industrial parks, airports, border gates, borders, remote areas, ethnic minority areas, serving socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security...
