Accordingly, Ship 418 of the 4th Naval Region Command was on patrol and control duty in the area of Tien Nu Island, part of the Truong Sa archipelago. At 7:00 AM on October 13th, upon receiving orders from superiors, it mobilized to receive a patient, a fisherman (according to the preliminary diagnosis of the military medical staff on Tien Nu Island) suffering from cholecystitis. Ship 418 operated, maneuvering and approaching the fishing vessel QNg 95267 TS at 9:00 AM on October 13th, and safely brought the patient aboard for care. Accompanying the patient was Major Hoang Ngoc Chinh, a professional military medical officer from Tien Nu Island.

The patient, Nguyen Phu Quoc, born in 1980, from Vinh An Hamlet, Binh Thanh Commune, Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province , was aboard the fishing vessel QNg 95267 TS, captained by Tran Van Dan, born in 1968, also from Binh Thanh Commune, Binh Son District, Quang Ngai Province. The vessel departed from Binh Thanh fishing port on September 3rd, carrying 24 people and engaged in squid fishing.
Previously, while working at sea, patient Nguyen Phu Quoc experienced severe abdominal pain in the right lower rib area. At 10:55 AM on October 12th, he was brought to Tien Nu Island by fishermen for emergency treatment. Upon examination, the patient had a fever of 38 degrees Celsius, a pulse of 88 beats/minute, and blood pressure of 140/80 mmHg. The preliminary diagnosis was acute cholecystitis. He was given intravenous fluids, antibiotics, pain relievers, anti-secretory medication, and muscle relaxants. The fisherman was then referred to a higher-level medical facility for treatment.
After bringing the patient aboard the ship, the medical team on Ship 418 provided first aid and specialized healthcare to the victim, whose health was weak. At 7:00 PM, Ship 418 approached Sinh Ton Island and handed over the patient to the island for treatment and emergency care as per regulations.
