At the reception, the Prime Minister believed that with his extensive experience in diplomacy, the Ambassador would have a successful term in Vietnam; affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to and wishes to continue promoting and deepening the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership; and that Vietnam will create the best possible conditions for the Ambassador to fulfill his duties.
The Prime Minister and the Ambassador expressed their delight at the extensive development of the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership in all areas of cooperation. Italy is Vietnam's third largest trade partner in the EU (after Germany and the Netherlands) and Vietnam is Italy's largest trade partner in ASEAN.
In 2023, the two sides will actively coordinate to organize many activities, including exchanges of high-level delegations and all levels, especially the visit of President Vo Van Thuong to Italy; cultural and artistic activities in the two countries... on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and 10 years of implementing the Strategic Partnership framework.
Informing the main features of the socio-economic situation, national development guidelines, foreign and defense policies of Vietnam, the Prime Minister suggested that the two sides continue to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level visits; implement cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, documents and agreements reached within the framework of high-level visits.
At the same time, closely coordinating at multilateral forums such as the United Nations, ASEAN-EU, Vietnam is a bridge to promote economic and trade relations between Italy and the EU with ASEAN, Italy is a bridge to promote Vietnam-EU relations.

Regarding economy, trade and investment, the Prime Minister suggested that the two countries continue to fully and effectively implement the EVFTA, Italy soon complete procedures to ratify the Vietnam-EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA); strengthen business connections for cooperation and investment, especially in the fields of digital transformation and green transformation; increase openness to each other's strengths; Italy supports and urges the EC to soon remove the IUU yellow card on Vietnamese seafood to protect the livelihoods of Vietnamese fishermen and meet the needs of consumers in European countries.
The Prime Minister asked Italy to actively coordinate at COP28, support Vietnam in responding to climate change and green transformation, especially in implementing the Political Declaration on establishing the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP), implementing the program of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice in the Mekong Delta, developing renewable energy, etc.
The Prime Minister suggested that the two countries continue to promote cooperation, Italy continue to support ODA for Vietnam in the fields of education and training, development of cultural industry, connection, cultural exchange, art, music, fashion, tourism, etc.; research to establish direct flights between the two countries; Italy continue to facilitate the Vietnamese community in Italy to live, study and work; promote effective cooperation between localities (currently there are nearly 10 pairs of twinned relationships between localities of the two sides).

Ambassador Marco Della Seta highly appreciated the position and role of Vietnam; said that he will make efforts to continue implementing the agreements of the two countries' high-ranking leaders, promoting the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership to develop more deeply and comprehensively in the coming time, especially in the areas that the Prime Minister has commented on.
Italy has confirmed that it will provide 250 million euros to Vietnam from the Climate Change Prevention Fund within the framework of JETP. The Ambassador also said that Italy's investment capital in Vietnam is very effective and many Italian businesses want to continue expanding their investment in Vietnam.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister sent his regards and invitation to the Italian Prime Minister to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.
