TKV is urgently working to mitigate the consequences and quickly stabilize production after the storm.

TKV and its member units are actively implementing measures to mitigate the consequences of Typhoon No. 3 with the goal of quickly stabilizing production.

In Quang Ninh province, the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV) has 16 coal mining units, including 3 open-pit mining units and 13 underground mining units. The total number of employees of TKV's units in Quang Ninh is approximately 80,000 people.

Therefore, when Typhoon No. 3 (international name YAGI) made landfall in Quang Ninh on September 7th with the strongest winds near the center of the storm reaching levels 12-13 (118-149 km/h), gusting to level 16, it caused significant damage to TKV's units.

Immediately after receiving warnings about the severity of the storm and directives from the Prime Minister, the National Steering Committee, ministries, and Quang Ninh province regarding storm prevention and control, on September 4th, the Disaster Prevention and Control - Search and Rescue Command (PCTT-TKCN) of TKV issued a directive on proactively and intensively responding to storm No. 3 and heavy rain.

Simultaneously, on September 5th, the Group established working groups to inspect the work of preventing and responding to Typhoon No. 3 at various units; assigning Group leaders and staff from specialized departments to be on duty 24/7 at the Production Operations Center in Quang Ninh and the TKV Headquarters at 3 Duong Dinh Nghe (Hanoi) on September 6th, 7th, and 8th to direct and respond to Typhoon No. 3, as well as to inspect and direct activities at the units.

On the morning of September 8th, immediately after the storm passed, the Party Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Group, Ngo Hoang Ngan, directed the inspection and remediation of the consequences of Typhoon No. 3 at the units and the early restoration of stable production…

TKV General Director Dang Thanh Hai, Deputy General Director Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy General Director Nguyen Huy Nam, along with specialized departments and the Group's Office, inspected and directed the work of overcoming the consequences of typhoon No. 3 at Vang Danh Coal Joint Stock Company and production units in the Uong Bi - Dong Trieu, Ha Long, and Cam Pha regions.

According to reports from relevant units, Typhoon No. 3 caused very serious consequences, resulting in power outages from 10:00 AM on September 7th, disruptions or interruptions in communication, and paralysis of traffic in some areas (the Vang Danh gold mine area experienced a complete power outage and communication disruption; the road from Uong Bi to the mine was blocked by landslides, leaving only the road to Yen Tu, which is quite far away, as access to the mine remains).

The storm caused extensive damage to the roofs of factories and workshops, tearing off tarpaulins covering coal; knocking down over 30 power poles behind 6 kV transformer stations of open-pit mining units; damaging several power stations; increasing water levels in some underground mining areas; and causing damage to many areas planted with trees and areas of trees planted for the restoration of waste dumps.

The Group's leadership directed all units to focus maximum manpower and equipment to urgently khắc phục the consequences of Typhoon No. 3, and to continue inspecting and addressing key areas and areas and machinery affected by the typhoon.

Faced with widespread power outages, the Group's leadership continued working with Quang Ninh Power Company to quickly restore power and requested underground and open-pit mining units to maintain generators and pumps to continuously drain mine water, as well as ventilation and prepare all necessary conditions and mine safety and hygiene measures so that production could resume immediately upon power restoration and quickly stabilize after the storm.
