Lunar New Year Calendar 2026: Demand for gifts and decorations drives a slight increase in purchasing power.

The market for Tet calendars in Ho Chi Minh City for 2026 entered its peak season from the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, with early increased demand due to the Year of the Horse falling in mid-February.

Block calendars, wall calendars, and desk calendars remain dominant in the market, with stable prices.

Demand for custom corporate gifts in industrial zones and areas with a high concentration of foreign direct investment (FDI) businesses has increased slightly. Meanwhile, some printing facilities and stationery stores have recorded a slight decrease in individual customers compared to the same period last year following the administrative boundary consolidation.

According to Mr. Vo Van Binh, Director of Danh Tieng Phat Printing and Packaging - Stationery Company Limited (Thu Dau Mot Ward, Ho Chi Minh City), this year, block calendars (roll-up calendars, tear-off wall calendars), desk calendars, and wall calendars continue to dominate. The prices of Tet calendars for 2026 are basically stable, with common desk and wall calendars ranging from 30,000 to 150,000 VND/set; mid-range block calendars from 100,000 to 300,000 VND/set. Large, extra-large block calendars priced from 150,000 to 850,000 VND are still popular with many families.

In the high-end segment, prices have increased slightly due to material costs; gold-plated, embossed, or specially printed calendars cost between 1 and 3 million VND per set, catering to the needs of gifting to business partners. Industrial parks in Song Than, VSIP, and My Phuoc have seen a sharp increase in calendar orders since the beginning of October. Most businesses order custom designs, with logos and brand identity printing. Some companies order bilingual Vietnamese-English versions to suit their foreign partners.

Nguyen Thi Mai Anh (20 years old) from Di An ward, Ho Chi Minh City, shared that young people today tend to buy and print humorous photos of their relatives and friends onto calendars on e-commerce platforms, with prices ranging from 100,000 to 200,000 VND per wall calendar. Along with that, calendars integrating AR technology (scanning QR codes to view 3D videos , greetings, or advertising content) are becoming more common and popular choices among young people and office workers.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Cuong, from Phu Loi Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, said that his company orders calendars every year to give to customers because they are highly practical and cost-effective. They choose desk calendars, priced at 30,000-50,000 VND per set, along with some small, compact stationery items printed with their logo. This year, many minimalist designs in terms of materials and content are popular. His company chose "green" calendars, using wood, recycled paper, biodegradable ink, and reusable packaging. This is a trend favored by FDI businesses and young customers.

In Thu Dau Mot ward, Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Tran My Van, owner of Chau stationery store, noted that many organizations have contacted her to place orders for gift calendars since October 2025. This year's designs are more diverse, with many sets featuring engraving and gold plating. Retail sales have decreased slightly by about 15% due to younger people being accustomed to viewing calendars on their phones. The trend of combining traditional and modern styles is also popular.

Some calendars feature Dong Ho folk paintings, plum blossoms, and couplets in a minimalist style, suitable for office spaces. Multifunctional calendars (combining pen holders, LED lights, and notebooks) and scented calendars (flowers, tea) have also seen increased orders. Calendars with feng shui themes, art calendars, and cultural/ tourism themed calendars are experiencing significant order increases. In the high-end gift segment, calendars using art paper, foil stamping, or embossing are popular choices for businesses to give to major partners.

With a diverse range of materials and designs, printing and stationery establishments in Thu Dau Mot, Thuan An, and Di An wards believe that the 2026 Lunar New Year calendar will not only serve the need for checking dates but also become a decorative and gift item with aesthetic value. Although retail sales are diversified, overall demand is projected to increase in the second half of December 2025 and January 2026.
