Ho Chi Minh City police launch a high-intensity campaign to ensure security and order during the Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse) 2026.

On the morning of December 12th, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department held a ceremony to launch a campaign to intensify efforts in crime prevention, detection, suppression, and security during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday of 2026. This campaign will run from December 15th, 2025 to March 16th, 2026, and is also part of a competitive emulation movement to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

At the launch ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Bay, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, assessed that in 2025, the city's police force maintained political stability, ensured security and order, and made important contributions to the city's socio-economic development and foreign relations.

Forces are deployed for a high-intensity crackdown on crime.

2026 is a pivotal year for implementing the Resolution of the First Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, and also features many major events such as the 14th National Party Congress, the 16th National Assembly elections, and the elections of People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term. This places very high demands on ensuring security and order in the city. Accordingly, the peak period during the Lunar New Year of 2026 will create important momentum to reduce crime and build a safe environment for residents, tourists, and investors.

Lieutenant General Mai Hoang, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, delivered a speech at the launch ceremony.

During this peak period, the Ho Chi Minh City Police focused on five main tasks: promoting the leading role of citizens in crime prevention; strengthening coordination among departments, agencies, and organizations in the fight against crime; promoting propaganda, especially the goal of building a drug-free Ho Chi Minh City by 2030; increasing information on results, successful models, and exemplary cases in crime prevention; focusing the core role of the police force in protecting security and reducing drug-related crimes, striving to achieve the target of: 30% of communes being drug-free and at least 30% of neighborhoods and hamlets in other areas meeting the drug-free criteria; and 100% of educational institutions, medical facilities, businesses, and organizations being drug-free.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders affirmed their determination to work alongside the police force, creating all conditions for the peak period to achieve the highest effectiveness, ensuring security and order for the people to enjoy the Spring Festival and celebrate Tet safely.

On the morning of the same day, the An Lac Ward Police also held a launching ceremony. Lieutenant Colonel Vo Duy Viet, Head of the Ward Police, briefed the Ho Chi Minh City Police Director on the plan to implement a high-intensity campaign to prevent, detect, deter, and suppress crime, ensuring security and order during the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026, and to strive for practical achievements to welcome the 14th National Party Congress.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, the forces marched through key routes in the area, conveying the message "Working together - Maintaining order - Protecting peace," demonstrating their determination to successfully complete the peak period.
