On September 17th, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province held a working session on preparations for organizing the National Tourism Year 2025. This event presents a good opportunity for Thua Thien Hue province to gradually affirm its position on the tourism map of Vietnam in particular and the world in general.
Hue is one of the first localities in Vietnam to discover and effectively exploit its tourism potential. The ancient capital of Hue is renowned for its many World Heritage sites. The people of Hue approach tourism with remarkable sophistication. When mentioning Hue, tourists often recall its ancient atmosphere, a convergence of many traditional values and a long history.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong stated: “The cultural values, landscapes, and architecture have created the Hue tourism brand – a key point on the national tourism map. With its abundant resources and developed tourism infrastructure, choosing Thua Thien Hue as the host locality for the National Tourism Year 2025 is very appropriate.”
Hosting the National Tourism Year 2025 also sets higher goals for Thua Thien Hue province. Prominent among these are developing more unique tourism products, adding more experiential spaces for tourists, boosting brand promotion, and attracting more tourist flows to Hue.
Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue province, Nguyen Thanh Binh, shared that hosting the National Tourism Year 2025 will be a significant milestone in the province's history. To quickly prepare for this important event, the Provincial People's Committee has directed relevant agencies and departments to develop a plan for organizing the National Tourism Year 2025.
The National Tourism Year - Hue 2025 will be a significant national-scale cultural, economic, social, and tourism event, reaching international standards, in conjunction with the Hue Festival 2025. The main events and activities are expected to be concentrated in Thua Thien Hue province.
To date, according to the plan, there are approximately 62 activities organized by Thua Thien Hue province. Many notable activities include: Announcing the Hue Festival 2025; an art program recreating the "Ban Soc Ceremony of the Nguyen Dynasty" in a theatrical format; celebrating the Lunar New Year in the Royal Palace; Hue Symphony; the VNEpress Marathon Hue; the Hue - Culinary Capital Festival; the Hue Lotus Festival 2025; and the Hue Ao Dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) art program…

According to Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, this is the second time Hue has hosted the National Tourism Year, after the first time in 2013. Organizing the National Tourism Year will bring positive impacts and create a significant growth boost for localities. Therefore, the tourism industry in Thua Thien Hue needs innovation and creativity in ideas, themes, and the implementation of activities during the 2025 National Tourism Year.
Regarding the theme for the 2025 National Tourism Year, Director Nguyen Trung Khanh suggested that "Hue - the capital of creative culture" be the theme, based on exploiting and honoring the cultural heritage values that are the strengths of Hue tourism; while also linking it with innovation and creativity in the context of integration and development.
During the meeting, delegates also emphasized the need to promote cultural industry products, both to honor the unique cultural values of Thua Thien Hue and to create a highlight that attracts domestic and international tourists to the locality. In addition, the province needs to actively participate in promotional activities abroad to strongly promote the image of Thua Thien Hue tourism through the National Tourism Year 2025.
