On August 22, in Trung Long village (Tan Trao commune, Tuyen Quang province), Vietnam News Agency (VNA) held an inauguration ceremony for the restoration of the Vietnam News Agency relic site during the resistance war against French colonialism - where the headquarters of Vietnam News Agency was located during the period 1952-1954.
This is an activity towards the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the establishment of VNA (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025).
Attending the inauguration ceremony were Secretary of the Party Committee, General Director, Chairman of the Vietnam News Agency Journalists Association Vu Viet Trang; Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency Nguyen Tuan Hung; Deputy General Director of Vietnam News Agency Doan Thi Tuyet Nhung; leaders of Vietnam News Agency through the periods; leaders of units of Vietnam News Agency, Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Tan Trao commune and a large number of cadres and employees.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang reviewed the heroic tradition of VNA during the 1952-1954 period.
Here, on March 4, 1952, the staff and reporters of the News Agency were honored to welcome Uncle Ho to visit and give him kind instructions.
In particular, in the early summer of 1954, when receiving news about the Dien Bien Phu Campaign, Uncle Ho sent a message through his liaison officer Vu Tien Luc: "The faster the news, the faster the resistance will be victorious." That message became a guiding principle, remembered and implemented by generations of VNA journalists.
At the relic site today, the image of "Uncle Ho leading the song of solidarity" and the sacred words on the memorial stele have created a meaningful space, connecting historical tradition with professional pride.
VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang stated that over the years, the Vietnam News Agency Relic Site in Hoang Lau Village (Tan Trao Commune) has always been cared for, becoming a "red address" for generations of cadres, reporters, and technicians to review traditions and foster pride in the glorious history of the News Agency.
After 80 years of accompanying the nation, VNA has been honored to be awarded the title of Hero three times and many noble awards.
During the resistance wars, generations of reporters and technicians were present on every battlefield, overcoming many hardships, and excellently completing the information tasks assigned by the Party and State.
Entering a new stage of development, VNA continues to innovate and apply modern technology, affirming its position as a trusted strategic information center of the Party and State; and at the same time, being the key news agency of the national media system.
With the spirit of “Vietnam News Agency and the country enter a new era,” VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang believes that all officials and employees of VNA will continue to unite, be determined to innovate, improve work efficiency, and excellently complete information tasks in the upcoming key missions.
VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang praised the Office's efforts to complete the restoration project on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of VNA's traditional day and thanked the authorities and people of Hoang Lau village (Tan Trao commune, Tuyen Quang) for always showing affection and attention to keep the relic site clean and beautiful.
At the end of February 1952, the headquarters of Vietnam News Agency was moved to Hoang Lau village, Trung Yen commune, Son Duong district, Tuyen Quang province (now Hoang Lau village, Tan Trao commune, Tuyen Quang province) as a base to serve the resistance war, serving the Dien Bien Phu campaign with the code name T6.
Here, information sources and documents were collected, compiled, assessed and exploited by Vietnam News Agency to serve Uncle Ho, the Party Central Committee and the Government in making decisions and communicating information for the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.
In 2001, the Vietnam News Agency Relic in the Tan Trao Special National Relic Site was ranked as a National Relic by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); in 2012, the Prime Minister signed a Decision to recognize it as a Special National Relic.
Since then, this place has become a "red address" for generations of reporters working for the News Agency to review the heroic history of the agency during the resistance war against French colonialism.
Over time, the Vietnam News Agency Relic Site has been damaged and degraded. Therefore, the Party Committee and the VNA Office Management Board have directed functional departments to survey, evaluate and decide to implement the project "Renovating the Vietnam News Agency Relic Site during the resistance war against France" in Tan Trao commune, Tuyen Quang province as a landmark project to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam News Agency's Traditional Day (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025) and practically celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Office of State Administrative Agencies (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025).
The project "Renovating the News Agency relic site during the resistance war against France" in Tan Trao commune, Tuyen Quang province, jointly implemented by officials and employees of the Office, will be one of the memorable milestones in the 80-year journey of VNA accompanying the country./.
