Torres received the award for his illustrious playing career, a journey that has left a deep mark in the hearts of Spanish football fans.

The ceremony was attended by many important figures in the sports world, in which Atletico Madrid was also prominently represented. President Enrique Cerezo and Sporting Director Carlos Bucero attended to congratulate Torres, who is considered the biggest symbol of the team for decades.

Torres grew up in Atletico's training academy and has long been a favorite at the Metropolitano. In the red and white shirt, he played 404 official matches, becoming the player with the 13th most appearances in the club's history.

The highlight of Torres' final period at Atlético was winning the 2018 Europa League, a title he once described as "a dream come true" when he lifted the trophy with his boyhood club.

Torres also had a glittering career at the international level. He was a 2010 World Cup winner, a two-time European champion (2008 and 2012) with Spain, and left behind many iconic moments, including the decisive goal in the Euro 2008 final that ushered in the golden age of La Roja.

Torres is currently the coach of Atletico Madrid B, leading the Primera Federacion Group B (Spanish football's third division). The team has a record of 8 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses after 13 rounds.
