The Japanese automaker has just officially introduced the upgraded version of the Toyota Corolla 2026 sedan for the European market. The most prominent highlight on the Corolla 2026 is the first appearance of the Onyx Grey matte paint color for the GR Sport and Touring Sports variants. This is the first time Toyota has used a matte paint color on a mass-produced car in Europe. In addition, the company has also added a Storm Grey metallic color option, suitable for both sedan and hatchback body styles.
This upgraded version of Corolla Cross in the European market to maintain competitiveness. In the Japanese market, the car is known as Corolla, and in Vietnam it is also known as Altis. The interior has also been improved with increased use of Samara – a durable, eco-friendly fabric made from recycled materials – for the seat backs and cushions on the Mid-grade and Touring Sports models. The Mid+ Sedan will have a separate Samara seat design.
In terms of equipment, the upgraded Toyota Corolla 2026 has added genuine front and rear dash cams and a digital key. In addition, the company also added some ADAS features such as blind spot warning, safe exit assistance, parking brake assistance... In terms of operation, the 2026 Corolla still uses two hybrid powertrain options: 1.8L (138 horsepower) and 2.0L (178 horsepower). Notably, the capacity of the 2.0L version has been adjusted down compared to the 2025 version (193 horsepower), but Toyota has not yet given a specific reason for this change. All new Corolla versions are equipped with the Toyota Safety Sense safety package and an entertainment system that supports over-the-air (OTA) software updates. A 12.3-inch digital display continues to be standard equipment, similar to the high-end GR Corolla model.
The Corolla is currently one of Toyota's best-selling models in Europe and the 2026 facelift is expected to continue its appeal thanks to changes in design and technology. Video : See details of the upgraded Toyota Corolla sedan model.
