Toyota has just officially launched the top sports car called GR GT, marking a new turning point when the Gazoo Racing division was separated into an independent brand. This car is considered the spiritual successor of the legendary Lexus LFA, but has a completely different appearance and design philosophy. The exterior design of the all-new Toyota GR GT 2027 has been refined by aerodynamic engineers who worked on Toyota's WEC racing project. Slim LED lights, large air intakes.
The Toyota sports car's integrated wing and large rear diffuser emphasize its dynamism. The GR GT rides on 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The GR GT is notable for its pure racing aerodynamic design, without any Toyota logos – instead, GR badges are mounted on the low, long body with a prominent elongated front end. The interior has a cockpit style, focusing on the driver. The car is equipped with a flat-bottom steering wheel with integrated drive mode and stability control knobs, a large digital instrument cluster and a central entertainment screen.
Despite the strong modernization, the cockpit of the all-new 2027 Toyota GR GT supercar will still retain some physical buttons for basic functions. Under the hood is a brand new 4.0L twin-turbo V8 hybrid engine, arranged in a “hot-V” form, using a dry-carter lubrication system to optimize the center of gravity. The engine is connected to an 8-speed automatic transmission mounted at the rear via a carbon fiber transmission shaft, accompanied by an electric motor and limited-slip differential. This powertrain produces at least 650 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, allowing the car to reach a top speed of over 320 km/h. The ideal weight distribution ratio of 45:55 between the front and rear contributes to stable operation at high speeds.
The GR GT features an aluminum spaceframe structure – a first for Toyota – that combines carbon and plastic to keep weight down, aiming for a weight of under 1,750 kg. Double wishbone suspension and carbon ceramic brakes promise optimal control on both the track and the road. The GR GT will officially go into production from 2027, and will be launched alongside the GR GT3 racing version - promising to be Toyota's new representative in global speed sports racing competitions such as WEC. In addition, the GR GT development platform will also be used to create the new generation of Lexus LFA.
