Regarding the upgrading of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Planning and Architecture to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to organize a competition for architectural plans for the west bank of the Saigon River (from Ba Son Bridge to Vietnam International Container Port) according to regulations.

At the same time, review, update and propose local adjustments to related planning projects and report to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee according to regulations.

The Department of Construction shall preside over and coordinate with the Department of Planning and Architecture, the Department of Finance, the Project Management Board for Investment and Construction of Traffic Works and relevant agencies and units to study and invest in the project to upgrade and expand Nguyen Tat Thanh Street and build a new bridge to replace the existing Tan Thuan 1 Bridge according to regulations.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee requires units to ensure full compliance with the requirements on authority, progress, deadline and investment efficiency (including selecting a number of suitable items that can be invested in the form of public-private partnership), proactively monitor and update relevant legal regulations, and promptly advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for consideration and direction.

Previously, the Department of Construction proposed that the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approve the early expansion of Nguyen Tat Thanh Street and the construction of a bridge to replace Tan Thuan 1 Bridge, with a total estimated cost of VND2,950 billion.

It is expected that Nguyen Tat Thanh Street will be expanded with the starting point being Khanh Hoi Bridge and the ending point being Tan Thuan Bridge, with a total length of about 2.5km. The proposed scale is to upgrade and expand Nguyen Tat Thanh Street and build a new bridge to replace Tan Thuan 1 Bridge with 6-8 lanes, and build an underpass on Hoang Dieu Street with a minimum scale of 4 lanes.
