Ho Chi Minh City informs about the announcement of additional enrollment quota for grade 10

The above information was announced by the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City at a meeting on the morning of July 18.

According to the HCM City Department of Education and Training, the department will announce the additional enrollment quota for grade 10 after July 20, when high schools finish receiving direct applications. A representative of the Examination and Quality Assurance Department of the HCM City Department of Education and Training said that currently, students admitted to grade 10 have completed the online enrollment confirmation period. According to the system, many high schools have a 100% enrollment confirmation rate for grade 10 students according to the assigned quota.

According to regulations, from July 17 to 31, high schools will receive applications directly from candidates who have confirmed their enrollment. However, the Department has directed high schools to speed up the application process to review the number of students enrolling directly at the schools. Therefore, the deadline for receiving applications will be earlier than planned, specifically on July 20.

However, the Department of Education and Training still wants to have a firm grasp of the number of students who apply directly to schools in order to have a suitable plan for additional enrollment. Missing one quota will cause students to lose the opportunity to study in public grade 10. Therefore, the Department of Education and Training must review, calculate and have accurate data. The additional enrollment quota for grade 10 in each school will be announced after July 20, when high schools finish accepting applications for grade 10.

Speaking more about the additional 10th grade enrollment, Mr. Nguyen Van Hieu, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the additional 10th grade enrollment is only for students who have failed their 3 10th grade wishes and have a standard score higher than or equal to the 3rd wish of the school that is lacking the quota and will be considered from high to low until the quota is met.

Faced with the fact that many families have found a place to study in grade 10 such as the Continuing Education Center, vocational school, private school but still participate in the additional admission exam, can they withdraw their application when enrolling? Mr. Hieu said that many students have submitted their application to vocational schools, Continuing Education Center, if they pass the additional exam, they can still withdraw their application to enroll in the public high schools they have been admitted to.

According to the leader of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, the criteria for candidates to register for additional admission are as follows: Candidates who do not pass all 3 wishes (Candidates who refuse to enroll in the wishes are not allowed to register for additional admission). Candidates with entrance exam scores higher than or equal to the standard score of the 3rd wish of the school submit their application for admission.

Admission requirements: Ensure the above two conditions. After that, the school will register for admission according to the remaining quota, from high to low until the quota is met for the 2024-2025 school year.
