“The Crippled Heart” is inspired by the classic French novel “À Cloche Coeur” (The Crippled Heart) by Catherine Arley, with a mysterious murder case that shocks the peaceful countryside. A woman is murdered and every character involved is suspected.
The film is set in Long Lanh town, a romantic place with nostalgic beauty near Da Lat.
The film features a talented cast including Quach Ngoc Ngoan, Xuan Van, Viet Hung, Nhat Linh and a series of interesting stories related to a murder case that occurred in a foggy town. Tran Nghia is an actor that the producer "hid" until the last minute.
In the film, Tran Nghia plays Bui An Phat, an autistic, mentally disturbed character who plays a key role in the entire case and leaves a strong impression on viewers.
“Crippled Heart” revolves around the story of 4 characters with Triet (Quach Ngoc Ngoan) – a famous painter, admired by others not only for his talent but also for his happy married life with Xuan (Xuan Van). Meanwhile, Triet’s younger brother Son (Viet Hung) rushes into a passionate love affair with a beautiful reporter – Anh (Nhat Linh). And then a murder suddenly happens, stirring up the peaceful town and shattering the perfect shell of love.
From here, a series of repressions that had to be piled up, the injuries and selfishness that "corroded" love gradually revealed, and Bui An Phat (Tran Nghia) appeared as an important link to bring the true faces of Triet, Xuan, Son, and Anh to light.
They - people who seem to be happy with their own fate, but in the world of "Crippled Heart" no one is perfect, everyone has a dark side that can turn them into a murderer. When going deeper into the journey of a brutal murder, "Crippled Heart" exposes to the audience the distortion in psychology, the fear when emotions are pushed to the limit and the suffocation when we realize that we are completely unable to control love as we wish.
Sharing his feelings about this role, “Teacher Ngan” of “Mat Biec” said: “Some of Nghia’s friends, when watching the film at the premiere, asked Nghia why he accepted a role that scared the audience so much. Honestly, as an actor, Nghia really likes to act in many different identities and roles. And Bui An Phat came along. So, Nghia went to audition for this role. It’s true that portraying a person with many psychological layers like Phat, for Nghia, is very satisfying.”
Meanwhile, director Quoc Cong also praised Tran Nghia for his climax scenes, his appearance was a perfect "trick" to create a lever to help the film become tense enough and have the necessary climax for "Crippled Heart". "Nghia once told me that he really wanted to play a role in a psychological crime film. Therefore, when Nghia came to the casting, Nghia really showed me that Nghia was very ready to play psychological roles and I had no reason not to put Nghia in the story of "Crippled Heart" - director Quoc Cong added.
Actor Tran Nghia was born in 1993, a student at the University of Economics , Hanoi National University. After 2 years studying economics, he switched to studying and graduating in theater and cinema.
Despite his young age, Tran Nghia already has a considerable filmography. His first role was in the film “Light in front of the face” and then a role in the movie “Yen’s life”. He also appeared in a number of TV series such as “Silent in the abyss”, “Afternoon across the old street”…
It was only when he played the role of Ngan in the film “Mat Biec” by director Victor Vu that Tran Nghia suddenly became famous and was loved by the audience. After “Mat Biec”, he also participated in many other famous TV series such as “Nha tro Balanha”, “Chung ta cua 8 nam sau”, “Mua he dep nhat”… and the movie “Dao doc dao - Tu mau Thien linh cai”…
Most recently, Tran Nghia appeared in "My Father, the One Who Stays", a film by Vietnam Television that bought the script from "In the Name of the Family" from a Chinese TV series.
