Equip with entrepreneurial skills and innovation

The “Startup and Innovation” Contest (hereinafter referred to as the Contest) of Quang Tri province is organized annually by the Department of Science and Technology (KH&CN). This is an opportunity for innovative ideas to be discovered, nurtured, and supported to start a successful business and create motivation for long-term development. The Contest has attracted many new, creative startup ideas that originate from practice and have high applicability.

After 6 months of launching, the "Innovative Startup" Contest in Quang Tri province in 2024, the Organizing Committee of the contest received 47 dossiers of ideas and projects registered to participate in the following fields: Agriculture (including medicinal herbs, food and post-harvest processing 24 dossiers); Tourism and services, Education 12 dossiers; Supporting industry and Automation 7 dossiers; Information technology and Communications 4 dossiers.

The units in the Organizing Committee include: Department of Science and Technology; Provincial Youth Union; Department of Education and Training; Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs; Provincial Women's Union have promoted propaganda activities about the contest widely among civil servants, public employees, union members, association members, students...

From the extensive communication activities about the contest, up to now the contest has attracted a large number of youth union members, organizations, units, science and technology enterprises, students in the province to participate and research. After evaluating the profile of ideas and projects, the Organizing Committee of the contest organizes training courses on presentation skills, planning, writing startup projects; organizes connections with startup consultants for authors and groups of authors with startup projects participating in the contest.

On October 25 and 26, 2024, the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Tri organized a training course on startup and innovation skills; methods of building and presenting ideas and projects for authors and groups of authors participating in the 2024 contest.

Accordingly, the training course has deployed contents such as: general concepts of startups, Startup, entrepreneurship; comparison, distinction between startups, Startup and entrepreneurship; determining business ideas; necessary factors when starting a business; tools to estimate the market; business cycle, business life cycle, lean startup; BMC business model, design thinking - Design Thinking, Lean Starup; methods of presenting models, ideas, startup projects; using some AI tools in business and startup activities; practicing presenting some models, ideas, startup projects...

Authors and groups of authors of 47 ideas and projects of startups and innovation were exchanged and shared experiences by experts in supporting the development of the startup ecosystem and innovation about opportunities, challenges, and current startup development orientations. At the same time, they introduced business development support services, research methods, market surveys; building action plans, revenue and expenditure plans; customer search and exploitation strategies; marketing and system building for startups; how to complete the application for ideas and startup projects and presentation skills to participate in the final round.

In addition, experts also advise on how to present and debate before judges, and on identifying difficulties and obstacles in the process of accessing conditions and opportunities to start a business and establish a business in the future...

Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology Dao Ngoc Hoang said: The training course aims to raise awareness, understanding and grasp information about start-up and innovation activities; at the same time, connect, support and spread the start-up spirit to authors of ideas and projects participating in the competition. Support authors and groups of authors to evaluate strengths and weaknesses to complete the development and presentation of ideas and projects participating in the 2024 competition...

This is the 5th year the competition has been held in the province. The competition aims to select, search, honor and call for resources to support and incubate potential innovative startup ideas and projects, contributing to the realization of startup ideas and projects as well as encouraging innovation in learning, research and strongly spreading the spirit of innovative startups in the community.

The 2024 Provincial "Innovative Startup" Competition continues to search for innovative ideas, projects, products, production and business models, and start-up businesses with the ability to grow rapidly based on the exploitation of intellectual property, technology, and new production and business models in the province, thereby encouraging and promoting the development of projects and solutions, contributing to the socio-economic development of the province.

Hopefully, with careful preparation by authors, author groups and active support from organizations and experts, ideas and projects on startups and innovation will create breakthroughs and creativity for successful startups.
