On August 20th, the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong commune ( Quang Ngai province) organized the first "zero-cost" market at the newly established Central Market of the commune.
This is not only a social welfare activity but also opens up opportunities to promote agricultural products, boost commodity production, and promote digital transformation in agriculture for the Xơ Đăng people here.
At the "zero-cost" market, seven stalls offered free goods such as agricultural products, vegetables and fruits, rice, clothing, shoes, books, and many other essential necessities, provided by officials, civil servants, cooperative businesses, and local people.

All the goods were donated through social mobilization efforts by the Tu Mo Rong Commune People's Committee, soliciting contributions from businesses, cooperatives, and the Xo Dang people themselves, to support and share with households in difficult circumstances.
People will be able to personally choose fresh bunches of vegetables, new sandals, bags of rice, or clothes without having to pay, bringing joy, warmth, and a strong sense of community in the highlands.
Besides the "zero-cost" stalls, the market also displays and sells agricultural products and medicinal herbs produced by people in Tu Mo Rong commune and neighboring communes. This activity not only creates opportunities to promote local specialties but also encourages the habit of producing goods, helping people increase their income and develop a sustainable economy .
Also at the market, the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong commune and the commune's organizations called for and donated 1,622 packages of essential goods, supported 10,000 pine saplings and 17 hole-drilling machines for planting coffee and fruit trees to 17 villages in the area, serving the planting of coffee and other high-economic-value crops. This is one of the efforts to improve the efficiency of agricultural production, help people improve their income and stabilize their lives, and develop the economy after the Party Congress of the commune…

Mr. Tran Quoc Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong commune, said that with 95% of the population being Xo Dang ethnic people, mainly living on agriculture and medicinal herbs, product consumption remains a major difficulty. The "zero-cost" market not only supports disadvantaged households but also provides an opportunity for people to apply technology, build brands for their distinctive agricultural products, and improve their lives.

A highlight of the "zero-cost" market is that organizations and associations in Tu Mo Rong have implemented training and guidance activities on digital literacy for the general public, helping people, especially the Xo Dang ethnic group, access technology and improve economic efficiency.
In particular, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Tu Mo Rong commune, Tran Quoc Huy, guided and directly supported the local people in practicing livestreaming to sell and promote agricultural products and medicinal herbs on social media platforms.
"The commune will study the possibility of organizing a monthly market, creating a stable destination for agricultural product consumption, increasing income, and promoting sustainable rural economic development," Mr. Huy added.

In addition, the local government and organizations in Tu Mo Rong commune organize and guide people in carrying out online administrative procedures, helping to save time and improve the efficiency of accessing public services.
Local departments disseminated information and guided people on how to identify and prevent online scams, ensuring safety when using technology. On this occasion, the Youth Union of the commune organized folk games, creating a joyful atmosphere, fostering community cohesion, and contributing to the preservation of traditional cultural identity.
Mr. Vo Trung Manh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tu Mo Rong commune, shared that the "zero-cost" market is a practical initiative, a step towards concretizing the resolution of the Tu Mo Rong commune Party Congress after implementing the two-tiered government policy. It serves as a bridge connecting culture, technology, and human connection, contributing to building a united and sustainably developing Xo Dang community.
