On June 5, Tra Vinh City Police (Tra Vinh Province) summoned and took statements from 3 subjects related to the case of blocking the road, obstructing, and using bricks to break the windshield of an ambulance in Ward 7 (Tra Vinh City), including Ha Quang Danh (born in 1998), Nguyen Thi My Chi (born in 2003), all residing in Tra Vinh City, and Huynh Thuy Nhi (born in 1999), residing in Duyen Hai District.

Danh and Chi admitted that throwing bricks and stones at the ambulance, causing damage, was wrong and violated the law. Tra Vinh City Police are consolidating the case file and handling the subjects according to the law.

The incident happened on the evening of May 31, the ambulance transported the patient from Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) to Thien An Hospital (Tra Vinh City) for further treatment.

When reaching Nguyen Dang street, the driver saw two motorbikes ahead so he honked his horn. The group of young men on the motorbikes did not yield the right of way, when the ambulance driver passed, the group chased after him.

Near the Tra Vinh General Hospital, a subject blocked the vehicle and threw bricks and stones at the ambulance before running away. The incident was recorded by a camera and spread on social media, causing public outrage. Ward 7 Police quickly coordinated with Tra Vinh City Police Department's professional teams to conduct investigations.

Police took statements from Huynh Thuy Nhi and Nguyen Thi My Chi.

According to the Road Traffic Law, an ambulance on duty is a priority vehicle. If the driver fails to give way or obstructs a priority vehicle on duty, he/she will be subject to an administrative penalty.

In case a young person damages an ambulance, depending on the nature, extent and value of the damaged property, he or she may be prosecuted according to regulations.
