Growing organic squash on hilly land is highly effective

Although it has just been piloted, the organic squash growing model on hilly land at Mr. Doan Quoc Hoai's household in village 1, Quang Tho commune (Vu Quang, Ha Tinh) has initially brought high economic efficiency.

Deploying a trial planting from the end of August 2023 with an area of ​​more than ^2,000m2 , up to now, the green squash growing model of Mr. Doan Quoc Hoai's family in village 1, Quang Tho commune has yielded a fairly high yield. It is known that Mr. Hoai learned this model from people in Anh Son district ( Nghe An ).

Quickly harvesting the results after a series of days of care, Mr. Doan Quoc Hoai excitedly said: "My family is the first household in the district to implement the model of growing green squash on a large area. Although it is only the first trial crop, the model has brought positive signals such as: plants grow well on poor soil, high fruit set rate, beautiful fruit samples... In particular, the output is very favorable, traders come to the garden to buy at 8,000 VND/kg, so the family is very secure."

Mr. Hoai added that his family had sold 2 tons of fruit, earning 16 million VND. Compared to other crops, growing squash brings in much higher income.

According to Mr. Hoai, this model is grown organically, without pesticides and chemical fertilizers. Thanks to that, the fruit is of good quality, and traders in Nghe An come to buy the whole garden.

Thanks to careful care, Mr. Hoai's pumpkin garden is full of fruit. It is expected that from now until the end of the season, his family will harvest about 2 tons more of fruit.

Mr. Hoai said: "This is a short-term, easy-to-grow crop, from the time of sowing until harvest is only more than 90 days and can be harvested from 3 to 4 times. This squash variety has a dense core, firm flesh, is easy to preserve and is suitable for long-distance transportation, so it is very easy to consume. From the effectiveness of squash, in the next crops, my family will expand the area and apply the correct organic growing methods and processes to increase income."

Harvested squash is purchased by traders in Nghe An right in the garden.

Mr. Hoai is planting more than 1,000 ^{square meters} to earn income after the above area is harvested. "With a stable income, the tree is easy to grow and can be planted year-round, so I hope that people in the area will expand to create a raw material area so that traders can conveniently purchase large quantities."
