Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tran The Thuan - Member of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Phan Thanh Hai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Thua Thien Hue province; Ms. Doan Thi Trang - Deputy Director in charge of the Ho Chi Minh City Museum; Mr. Nguyen Duc Loc - Director of the Thua Thien - Hue Provincial History Museum; reporters from press agencies and television stations in Ho Chi Minh City attended and reported.
The exhibition introduces to the public 300 images, documents and artifacts divided into 2 themes:
Topic 1: From Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan to Hue Imperial City - where national cultural heritage converges and crystallizes will introduce to the public the process of formation and development from Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan to Hue Imperial City. With a history of more than 700 years, Thua Thien - Hue has become a land of convergence of quintessence, culture and art with a system of historical and cultural relics, artifacts and antiques that are rich in quantity, diverse in types, and unique in artistic value.
Topic 2: From the South in the 17th - 19th centuries to Saigon will introduce to the public the process of formation and development of the Gia Dinh - Saigon region from the 17th to the 19th century, especially the collection of seals, royal decrees, and leaflets showing the management of the State in the early days of establishing the administrative system. This is an important and rare historical source currently preserved at the Ho Chi Minh City Museum.
The thematic exhibition is an opportunity for the public to learn about the history of the formation of the political, economic and social center of Phu Xuan - Hue (since 1558); the history of the establishment of Gia Dinh - Saigon and the process of territorial exploration to the South by our ancestors (since 1698). At the same time, it introduces the achievements in economy, culture and the difficulties and challenges of establishing Vietnam's sovereignty through feudal dynasties. The strong cultural imprints in daily life, customs and habits... the exchange and blending between royal culture and folk culture to form the regional cultural characteristics of the ancient Southern residents.
At the opening ceremony, the public not only admired the unique exhibits, but also had the opportunity to experience making traditional Thanh Tien paper handicrafts.
The thematic exhibition “ Phu Xuan – Gia Dinh, historical imprints” takes place from November 29, 2024 to February 23, 2025 at Ho Chi Minh City Museum – No. 65, Ly Tu Trong Street, Ben Nghe Ward, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
