Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên12/03/2025

According to the official announcement, starting from the 2025-2026 school year, students in all schools in Beijing (China) will implement AI education programs with a minimum of 8 hours of teaching per year. This program can be organized independently or integrated into subjects such as information technology, science and practical activities. Innovative teaching methods will be applied, including the use of AI assistants and project-based learning, as well as interactive situations.

Eight hours of AI training is the minimum that students in Beijing must receive each school year.

While eight hours of AI training per year may seem small, it is a minimum and can be increased in the future. The statement also emphasizes the establishment of a cooperation mechanism between universities, companies and high schools to train students with special talents in the field of AI. To ensure the quality of teaching, teachers from majors such as computer science , mathematics and technology will be trained to teach AI education.

Is AI Education the Future of Training Programs?

The initiative is seen as part of the Chinese government’s efforts to promote the development of AI in education. In addition to Beijing, Estonia has also taken a similar step, becoming the first country in the world to integrate ChatGPT.edu into its national education system. From September 1, 2025, 20,000 high school students and 3,000 teachers in Estonia will have free access to these tools.

This development opens up many opportunities for AI education globally and it will be interesting to see whether other countries follow China and Estonia in integrating AI into their curricula.
