On July 13, the School of Business and Management (HSB), Vietnam National University , Hanoi held a ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its founding and receive the Second Class Labor Medal from the President of the State awarded to the school.
Speaking at the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hieu - Vice President of Hanoi National University - said that in 1995, in response to the country's development and innovation requirements, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Dao, the first director of Hanoi National University, reported to Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet and General Vo Nguyen Giap to establish the Faculty of Business Administration (HSB) under Hanoi National University, operating under a pilot mechanism of fundamental and comprehensive autonomy in both academics and finance.
"It can be said that this is the firstuniversity established and operating under the pilot mechanism of university autonomy in Vietnam," he said.
According to Mr. Hieu, over the past 30 years, the school has continuously developed and matured. When it was first established, the Faculty of Business Administration only provided postgraduate training and short-term training in business administration.
Up to now, the School of Business and Administration has become a pioneer university training institution in university autonomy; always focusing on scientific research, associated with the task of training according to international standards.
In particular, in 2023, the School of Management and Business was accredited according to European standards by the Institute for Quality Assurance, Accreditation and Certification (ACQUIN) with 8 training programs including both bachelor's and master's programs.
Currently, the School of Business and Administration is enrolling and training 7 bachelor's programs, 3 master's programs and 1 doctoral program.
Over the past 30 years, the school has trained more than 15,000 students and graduates, many of whom now hold leadership positions in the public and private sectors.
The school said that throughout its history of formation and development up to now, the school has not used a single penny of the state budget, but businessmen, lecturers and students have developed a model of a creative, autonomous and continuously developing school based on four pillars: public, autonomous, not-for-profit; public-private partnership.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Hoang Minh Son - Deputy Minister of Education and Training - praised and congratulated the achievements that the School of Business and Administration has achieved over the past 30 years.
According to Deputy Minister Son, the world today is transforming strongly with profound and rapid changes in many aspects; the country is also entering a new development period with the aspiration to become a developed, high-income country by 2045.
"More than ever, large, key universities such as Hanoi National University (including member universities; schools under Hanoi National University such as the School of Business and Administration) need to affirm their pioneering role - not only leading in innovation, but also having the responsibility to lead the system; not only developing themselves, but also spreading and creating influence for the whole society," said Mr. Son.
At the ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Dinh Phi - Principal of the School of Business and Administration - expressed his deep gratitude to generations of teachers, agencies and Hanoi National University for always accompanying, supporting and creating conditions for the school to develop sustainably over the past 30 years.
In the spirit of gratitude and inheritance, Mr. Phi said the school will continue to strive to innovate and pioneer for the cause of education and national development.
