The event was jointly organized by Phenikaa University, the Vietnam Linguistics Association, and the National Foreign Language Project Board, Ministry of Education and Training on November 30. The conference is a connection between generations of language researchers, units, and language training and research institutions in the country and internationally.
In his welcoming speech at the conference, Prof. Dr. Pham Thanh Huy - Party Secretary, Principal of Phenikaa University - said that the conference received more than 225 articles from domestic and foreign scholars, written in 6 languages: Vietnamese (with the largest number), English, Korean, Chinese/Chinese/Mandarin, Japanese, and French.
Foreign scholars come from countries and territories such as: USA, China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Laos, Thailand... Domestic scholars come from 81 units including universities, colleges, high schools and research institutes across the country.
The content of the articles contributes to clarifying the characteristics of Vietnamese - the national language of Vietnam and other languages; contributes to supplementing and demonstrating theoretical issues of modern linguistics; at the same time, contributes to improving the capacity of scientific research, training and fostering lecturers and researchers; strengthens domestic and international cooperation in teaching and researching linguistics; especially contributes to solving information technology problems that require language data.
Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Phan Xuan Dung - President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, former member of the Central Executive Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam ; former Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment - expressed his joy at participating in such a meaningful professional workshop.

According to Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, there are more and more international friends studying and researching Vietnamese. “ The Vietnamese language contributes to the rich and diverse treasure of world languages. Because we have the languages of 53 ethnic minorities. That is an extremely valuable intangible asset of our nation in particular and of humanity in general.
Organizing a conference like this is very important, not only in terms of scientific content but also in terms of socio-political significance, contributing to the solidarity of ethnic groups, international exchange and integration, building a scientific foundation to contribute to the completion of language policy, ethnic policy, building and developing the country's science, developing the socio-economy, and enhancing the status and position of the country ", emphasized Dr. Phan Xuan Dung.
Within the framework of the workshop, there was a plenary session and a parallel session with 5 subcommittees discussing the topics.
The plenary session was chaired by Professor, Dr. Tran Tri Doi; Master Dinh Thi Ngoc Linh (Faculty of Japanese) and Master Nguyen Vo Hai Trieu (Faculty of English) acted as secretaries and provided language support.
At the plenary session, there were 3 presentations reported including: Overview of comparative research on onomatopoeia in Japanese and Vietnamese: focusing on surveying documents on the CiNii academic database - Professor, Dr. Kamimura, Soka University, Japan; How to teach and learn Vietnamese tones from the perspective of Taiwanese and Chinese speakers - Professor, Dr. Tuong Vi Van, Thanh Cong University, Taiwan (China); and Comparing the vocabulary system between Muong and Vietnamese: Outlining an approach - Professor, Dr. Nguyen Van Khang, Phenikaa University.
Delegates actively contributed many ideas at the Workshop.
Within the framework of the workshop, a parallel session took place with lively discussions of 5 subcommittees: Contrastive Linguistics; Contrastive Linguistics - Translation; Language - Culture; Language Education.
Within the framework of the workshop, there was also a dialogue session with sharing from leading linguistic experts on the topic "Vietnamese Linguistics: From the present to the future".
It can be affirmed that, with different levels of contribution, the results of each article contribute to clarifying the characteristics of language as a research object, contributing to supplementing and demonstrating theoretical issues of modern linguistics; at the same time, contributing to improving the capacity of scientific research, training and fostering lecturers and researchers.
The conference is considered one of the leading professional activities in language teaching held in Vietnam, a prestigious professional forum where experts, specialists, teachers and students exchange research results, ideas, methods... related to language research, teaching and learning. In addition, the event promises to promote language research in Vietnam, integrating with the world.
