On February 17th, the People's Procuracy of District 1 (Ho Chi Minh City) issued an indictment prosecuting defendant Quach Minh Nhut (34 years old, residing in District 6) to the People's Court of District 1 for trial on the charge of "intentionally causing injury" under point i, clause 1, article 134 of the Penal Code.
According to the indictment, at approximately 12:30 PM on December 14, 2024, Nhut drove his car carrying his mother, wife, and child to Tu Du Hospital (Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1) for a medical examination. While his family members were inside the hospital, Nhut drove the car to a parking lot.
Because they couldn't get their child examined, Nhựt's wife called him to drive back. When Nhựt arrived in front of Từ Dũ Hospital, there was a lot of traffic jam behind him.
At that moment, Mr. TTT rode his motorbike up to the car door next to Nhut's and started talking, but Nhut couldn't clearly hear what Mr. T. was saying.
The driver who assaulted someone in front of Tu Du Hospital has been charged with intentional infliction of injury.
Seeing that Mr. T. was speaking in an angry tone, Nhut got out of the car and walked towards Mr. T., using both hands to repeatedly hit Mr. T. in the face and head a total of 9 times.
Seeing this, Nhựt's mother and wife ran to intervene, but Nhựt continued to use his right hand to hit Mr. T. in the face and throw him to the ground.
After being restrained, Nhut got into his car and drove away. Mr. T. went to the hospital for emergency treatment and then reported the incident to the Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police Station, District 1, and also filed a request for criminal prosecution against Nhut. On December 16, 2024, Nhut surrendered to the Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police Station, District 1.
According to the assessment, Mr. T. sustained 6% injuries. Regarding civil matters, Mr. T. has also filed a claim for compensation from Nhut totaling over 242 million VND, including damages for medical treatment, rehabilitation, lost income, and emotional distress.
