Thairaith newspaper wrote: “Mistakes follow mistakes. First it was the competition schedule (mistaking the Vietnamese flag for Thailand), now it is the flags of Singapore and Indonesia. In fact, the organization of the tournament is facing huge problems. Thailand was expected to return to the position of the country with the most gold medals but it is becoming the SEA Games with the most mistakes.”

Previously, the organizers had mistakenly confused the Vietnamese flag with the Thai flag.

Siamsport commented: “This is unacceptable. The announcement at the opening ceremony stated that the 1997 SEA Games were hosted by Indonesia, but the Singapore flag was raised. Furthermore, there was a mix-up in the number of gold medals, changing from 574 to 547, during the drone display.”

"In recent days, this issue has been dissected repeatedly, but it shows no sign of stopping; in fact, it's becoming even more serious," Mainstaind criticized.

It's unclear how many organizational errors were involved. On the first day of the event, December 3rd, the Laotian and Vietnamese teams had to sing their national anthems a cappella due to a malfunctioning sound system at the stadium. In baseball, the pitches were also criticized for not meeting standards.

In women's football, host nation Thailand mistakenly listed the wrong venue, causing Myanmar fans to arrive at the wrong stadium. Fortunately, the correct venue was 7 km away, so they were able to make their way back in time. Similarly, in the transportation of athletes, many delegations had to wait a long time for transportation...
