On November 30th, Da Nang International Airport announced that starting January 1st, 2025, it will begin charging passengers for using the priority lane at security checkpoints.
Accordingly, the service will be deployed at Terminal T1. Da Nang Airport is the first airport in our country to implement this service.
Accordingly, the passengers subject to the fee are CIP (Civil Service Passenger Transfer) passengers of Vietnamese airlines, business class passengers or equivalent passengers of Vietnamese airlines, and passengers who are members of the frequent flyer programs of Vietnamese airlines and are granted priority access at security checkpoints.
Mr. Phan Kieu Hung, director of Da Nang International Airport, said that this area will have a separate lane for priority passengers (priority lane) to undergo security screening.
The area will have directional signs, and security personnel will be equipped with specialized equipment for security screening in accordance with regulations.
According to Mr. Hung, the service that charges passengers to use priority lanes at security checkpoints is a non-aviation service that does not affect the provision and quality of air transport services, nor does it change aviation security control procedures.
Previously, Da Nang International Airport also sent a document to domestic airlines stating that it would begin providing a paid service for priority access at security checkpoints, priced at 100,000 VND per passenger (excluding VAT).
According to statistics, there is a growing trend of passengers using the priority lanes at Da Nang International Airport, with approximately 300 passengers per day during peak periods.
Currently, airports in our country all have priority lanes to serve passengers who meet the standards stipulated by the State and passengers who are beneficiaries of social policies (the elderly, children, people with disabilities, pregnant women, etc.).
However, sharing priority access with business class passengers and CIPs (Consumer Priority Access) sometimes leads to overload, affecting service to eligible groups as stipulated by the State.
Many airports around the world have implemented it.
Currently, the paid service for passengers to use priority lanes at security checkpoints is part of the Fast-Track service implemented by many airports worldwide. Many airports categorize fees depending on the service, such as domestic flights or international flights.
The priority lane service aims to help passengers avoid long queues at security checkpoints at the terminal. It also facilitates faster access to security, preventing congestion during peak times.
