From "5 no's, 3 clean's" to "5 yes's, 3 clean's" in Thac Ba

The campaign "Building a family with 5 'no's and 3 'clean's" has always been considered a key task by the Women's Association of Thac Ba commune, linked to the new rural development program and the goal of improving the quality of life for its members, women, and children. From this foundation, the movement has continued to expand and develop into the "5 'yes's and 3 'clean's" model, suitable for the development requirements of the new era.

These flower-lined streets, managed by women themselves, are maintained in many branches of the association.

From the very beginning, the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" campaign was fully disseminated by the Women's Union of the commune to 100% of its women's branches. Through regular meetings, training courses, and community communication activities, members were clearly explained each criterion: no poverty; no violation of the law, no involvement in social vices; no domestic violence; no having a third child or more; and no malnourished or school-dropping children.

The three criteria of "clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley" are also concretized through daily actions, gradually forming a civilized lifestyle in each family.

Activities encouraging women to maintain environmental hygiene and to build and care for flower-lined roads are carried out regularly...

In parallel, legal communication is always emphasized. The Association regularly disseminates legal regulations related to gender equality; prevention and control of domestic violence, human trafficking, and social evils… to help members and women raise awareness and spread this message to their family members.

Environmental sanitation activities are regularly carried out by members and women in Thac Ba commune.

Thanks to this, the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" movement is increasingly becoming a standard of living, demonstrating the resourcefulness and dynamism of Thac Ba women in modern life.

During the term, 152 member households met the criteria of "5 no's, 3 clean's". Currently, the entire commune has over 5,360 members registered to participate in the campaign, achieving a rate of over 92%.

The association also installed 35 "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" family signs and 18 "Clean House, Beautiful Garden" signs. The flower-lined streets managed by the women are maintained cleanly and beautifully, contributing to a new look for the residential area.

To meet practical demands, the Women's Association of Thac Ba commune boldly expanded the content of the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" campaign into the "5 Yes's, 3 Cleanliness" movement. While the "5 No's, 3 Cleanliness" criteria focused on eliminating risks and limitations, the "5 Yes's, 3 Cleanliness" criteria aimed at creating better conditions for the families of association members.

The five criteria of "having" include: having a safe home; having a sustainable livelihood; having good health; having knowledge; and having a cultured lifestyle. From this transformation, many practical models have emerged, especially in implementing the criterion of having a sustainable livelihood.

Ms. Dich Thi Yen, Chairwoman of the Women's Association of Thac Ba commune, said: To help members improve their quality of life, the Women's Association of the commune is promoting activities and models to support women's economic development; supporting the maintenance and improvement of the effectiveness of cooperatives led by women; and coordinating with the Social Policy Bank to create conditions for members to borrow capital for economic development.

Currently, the entire commune has 25 savings and loan groups, with 1,126 members currently borrowing; the total amount of savings has reached nearly 2.37 billion VND. The association regularly checks and verifies outstanding loans to ensure that the capital is used for the right purpose and yields effective results.

In addition, support for poor women has been given attention and focused on specific needs. During the first half of its term, the association donated over 1,100 chicks and feed to 16 poor women's households; organized visits and provided support to families with members suffering from serious illnesses or facing hardships, totaling over 51 million VND and nearly 250 man-days of labor; and raised 48 million VND for the "Shelter of Love" fund to build houses for poor women.

One of the highlights of the Women's Association of Thac Ba commune is its integration of the "5 Haves, 3 Cleanliness" movement with the national target program on building new rural areas. The Women's Association of the commune has undertaken many specific tasks such as mobilizing members to donate land and contribute labor to build roads, cultural centers, and beautify residential areas.

According to Ms. Dich Thi Yen, Chairwoman of the Women's Association of Thac Ba commune, women not only enjoy the fruits of labor but also contribute to creating a new rural landscape through practical actions.

In the coming period, the Women's Union of Thac Ba commune will continue to improve the quality of the "5 Haves, 3 Cleanliness" campaign, linking it with the construction of new rural areas and the development of a green economy; promote the dissemination of information on gender equality, mental health care, and life skills education for members; and support women in applying digital technology in developing household economies. The Women's Union of the commune strives to mobilize and support at least 20 more households annually to meet the "5 Haves, 3 Cleanliness" criteria.
