According to the Washington Post , on April 10, General Cavali expressed deep concern to members of the U.S. House of Representatives about the current situation in Ukraine.
He emphasized that the conflict in Ukraine is at a critical stage and predicted that Russia could have an immediate advantage in terms of artillery shells, potentially ten times greater than the Ukrainian Armed Forces (VSU).
According to him, if the US does not immediately increase military support, including approving additional military funding for Ukraine, there is a high risk that Kyiv will be at a significant disadvantage in the conflict due to insufficient artillery ammunition.
Stating that "the side that cannot return fire will lose," the American general also emphasized the crucial importance of artillery reserves to the outcome of the conflict.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Defense One magazine quoted John Plumb, an assistant to the US Secretary of Defense, as saying that the Pentagon is actively cooperating with Ukraine and SpaceX to try to prevent the Russian military from using Starlink satellite communication system terminals.
He also acknowledged that the Pentagon cannot force SpaceX to stop servicing satellites owned by the Russian Federation.
Previously, the Pentagon paid $23 million to Elon Musk's SpaceX company to supply Starlink terminals to the Ukrainian Armed Forces (VSU) until May 2024.
