View author's postsOn the morning of December 1, after 4 days of questioning and deliberation, the People's Court sentenced defendant Nguyen Minh Quan (former director of Thu Duc Hospital) to 16 years in prison for embezzlement of property; 5 years in prison for money laundering; the total sentence is 21 years, and ordered him to pay compensation of 102 billion VND.
Meanwhile, defendant Nguyen Van Loi, Director of Nguyen Tam Company, was sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison.
Defendant Nguyen Thi Ngoc Diem (Mr. Quan's wife) was sentenced to 3 years in prison, suspended, for money laundering.
The remaining 5 defendants, former officials of Thu Duc Hospital, received sentences ranging from 2 years and 6 months to 3 years and 6 months for violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences.
