Teacher Vo Kim Bao guides students of Nguyen Du Secondary School (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) on how to review knowledge to prepare for the 10th grade entrance exam.
On February 22, according to information from the leader of the Examination Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the 10th grade entrance exam for the 2024-2025 school year will apply the regulations on direct admission and priority policies as in the previous school year.
Regulations on direct recruitment
Specifically, the regulation on direct admission to grade 10 applies to students graduating from junior high school in the 2023-2024 school year in Ho Chi Minh City who are:
- Students with disabilities (with certificate as prescribed).
- Students who meet the following conditions: winning national and international prizes in culture, arts, sports; national science and technology competitions for middle and high school students (national prizes organized or co-organized by the Ministry of Education and Training, international prizes nominated by the Ministry of Education and Training or the Department of Education and Training).
Students eligible for direct admission must apply for direct admission with 3 wishes to high schools near their place of residence that match their abilities and learning conditions, except for specialized high schools, high schools with specialized classes, schools implementing high-quality programs, advanced schools, and international integration schools.
Students who win prizes in national science and technology competitions for middle and high school students organized by the Ministry of Education and Training or students who win international prizes in corresponding subjects in the National General Education Program are allowed to register for direct admission to all high schools, except specialized schools.
The Department of Education and Training also stipulates that the application for direct admission must be submitted within the prescribed time, including: Application for direct admission and certificate of disability issued by a competent authority or a valid certificate of national and international awards issued by the Ministry of Education and Training or a certificate of merit awarded by the City People's Committee for international competitions.

Also in the 10th grade entrance exam, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training applies preferential treatment to candidates as follows:
- Add 2 points for one of the following subjects: Children of martyrs; Children of war invalids with 81% or more loss of working capacity; Children of people granted a Certificate of beneficiaries of policies like war invalids, and the person granted this certificate has a loss of working capacity of 81% or more.
- Add 1.5 points for one of the following subjects: Children of Armed Forces Heroes, children of Labor Heroes; Children of war invalids with less than 81% loss of working capacity; Children of people granted a Certificate of beneficiaries of policies like war invalids, where the person granted this certificate has a loss of working capacity of 81% or more...
- Add 1 point for one of the following subjects: People whose father or mother is an ethnic minority; Ethnic minorities.
Also according to the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the 10th grade entrance exam in 2024 is expected to take place in early June and candidates will take 3 compulsory subjects: literature, foreign language, math (if registering for regular 10th grade) and specialized or integrated subjects (if registering for specialized or integrated 10th grade).
