According to information from the Solar Physics Laboratory of the Russian Space Research Institute (SRI RAS) posted on the Telegram channel on October 27, previously, a number of Telegram channels in Russia shared a video recording a scene of an object suspected of falling from space, leaving a large streak of light in the sky of Moscow, Russia.

This phenomenon was seen by people in many cities and regions around Moscow such as Dubna, Ramenskoye, Vidnoye, Zhukovsky, Lyubertsy, Krasnogorsk and Odintsovo.

Responding to RIA news agency, Mr. Sergei Bogachev, head of the above-mentioned laboratory, said the object could be a small meteorite or space debris.

However, SRI RAS scientists later concluded that based on the speed of the flight, it was likely an asteroid.

According to information released by this laboratory, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has removed data on the orbit and characteristics of asteroid 2025 US6 from its catalog of near-Earth objects.

Before the bright object was recorded in central Russia, this data was still publicly available in the system.

Specifically, according to previous calculations, 2025 US6 has an estimated diameter of about 2m and is expected to fly past Earth at a distance of about 150,000km on October 28, just one day after the phenomenon in Moscow.

Currently, information about this object has disappeared not only from the database of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), but also from the systems of the European Space Agency (ESA).

A copy of the data is still stored in the Yandex search engine cache from two days ago, but the links give errors when accessed.

“With high probability, this object could be related to the event observed in central Russia, but the reason for NASA deleting the data and the prevalence of this is currently unclear,” the SRI RAS research team said.

Scientists later added that the glowing object recorded in Russia could be of artificial origin, as its flight path was similar to the orbit of the Chinese satellite DRO-B - a device that was launched into lunar orbit in 2024 but the mission failed.

Russian authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the object, while international scientists are monitoring and analyzing more data to clarify the connection between the phenomenon in Moscow and asteroid 2025 US6.
