VFF rewards players with money; Van Toan is the best

The Vietnamese national team received a bonus from the VFF after their 2-0 victory over the Philippines in the opening match of the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in the Asian region. Van Toan shared his thoughts at the post-match press conference.

Immediately after the match ended with a 2-0 victory for the Vietnamese national team in their away game in the Philippines, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) decided to reward coach Philippe Troussier and his team with one billion VND.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) wants to encourage Van Toan and his teammates to have more energy before the match against strong opponent Iraq on November 21st at My Dinh Stadium.

Not only did Van Toan score the opening goal for the Vietnamese national team against the Philippines, but he also displayed a spirited and high-speed performance, making it difficult for the opposing team's defense to keep up with him.

That's also why Van Toan was chosen as the best player of the match.

Commenting on the victory against the Philippines, Van Toan said: "In the opening match, we played on a very difficult artificial turf pitch. Despite that, the Vietnamese team won. I felt very proud to score a goal."

Over the past eight months, the Vietnamese national team has been getting used to the new philosophy and striving to adapt. This isn't a huge achievement, but it's the first result in eight months of training. The Vietnamese team will try to earn points in the upcoming match against Iraq."

Regarding the injury he sustained, Van Toan said he was experiencing pain in his side and needed to have it checked after the match.

After their victory against the Philippines, the Vietnamese team did not return home immediately, but decided to stay for a day to recover, then fly back to Hanoi at 11 PM on November 17th (expected to land at 1:40 AM on November 18th).

Meanwhile, the Iraqi team will arrive in Hanoi tomorrow noon (November 17th) and will have four training sessions before their match against the Vietnamese team at My Dinh Stadium.
