A few days ago, The Cong Viettel terminated the contract with Duc Chien. He will play for Ninh Binh in the 2025-2026 season.
Duc Chien has presented many things to the press. In which he expressed: "Many people say that I moved to the new club because of money. But in reality, the treatment at the old team is much higher. I chose to leave because of my thirst for titles, for a bigger goal than the top 3 like every year.
I really wanted to be able to dedicate my last season and say goodbye to the fans on the pitch. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to play. Right after returning from the national team training session, I was asked to leave the first team, to train separately, and not even to ride the team bus. For that reason, I decided to proactively compensate and terminate my contract 2 months early. Not because I was sad, but because I wanted to keep for myself the last respect - and the beautiful memories of a team that I have been attached to for all this time."

The Cong Viettel shared: “Right after Duc Chien returned from the national team, the Board of Directors directly met and discussed. However, Duc Chien announced that he would not sign a new contract with the club.
At the same time, Duc Chien also did not ensure the quality of the next training sessions to prepare for the remaining matches of the season. In particular, Duc Chien proactively asked the head coach that he was not physically fit enough and would not play the match against Hanoi FC while the team was very short of players.
The desire to win is always in us and only those who want to leave will say otherwise. In terms of the club's philosophy, we always focus on training talents and the next generation so as not to be too affected by the market, especially when the value of players is always changing. With clubs, not just The Cong Viettel, we always have to ask the question of what is the real value of players. With that value, can we buy better foreign players or will we create conditions for young players to show themselves?
To make an important decision, we always consider it a problem that must be carefully considered. The club has also foreseen these problems, when the players they have trained become the target of other clubs.
With the support of the group's leaders, we also created the best conditions for Duc Chien to stay, even offering an attractive negotiation with Duc Chien, but the two sides could not find a common voice. The transfer market of Vietnamese football is quite complicated, but we will always pursue our views and philosophies. We always believe and hope that professional football will always need a professional approach."
