Vietnam won 5 Gold and Silver medals at the International Physics Olympiad

On the morning of July 28, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) received information on the official results of the Vietnamese national team competing in the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2024 held in Iran. The Vietnamese team with 5 students competing, the results were 5/5 students won medals, including: 2 Gold Medals (HCV), 3 Silver Medals (HCB).

The students who won the gold medals were Than The Cong and Truong Phi Hung. Both are 12th grade students at Bac Giang High School for the Gifted, Bac Giang province.

The 3 silver medals went to the following students: Nguyen Nhat Minh, 12th grader, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Ha Duyen Phuc, 12th grader, Lam Son High School for the Gifted, Thanh Hoa province; Nguyen Thanh Duy, 12th grader, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Hai Phong city.

Vietnam team to participate in International Physics Olympiad 2024.

The 54th International Physics Olympiad will be held in Iran from July 21 to July 29, 2024. According to the regulations of the IPhO 2024 Council, the exam consists of 1 theoretical exam and 1 experimental exam. Each exam lasts 5 hours.

This year’s exam is considered interesting and difficult, the theoretical and practical exam content is closely related to real life and touches on the applications of modern science and technology. To achieve the gold medal, candidates must be in the top 8% of candidates with the highest scores.

With 100% of students winning medals, including 2 gold medals and 3 silver medals, the Vietnamese delegation is among the countries with the highest results at the 2024 International Physics Olympiad. This year's results are also better than in 2023 (in 2023, the Vietnamese team won 2 gold medals, 2 silver medals and 1 bronze medal). In particular, the practical exam scores of Vietnamese students this year have improved significantly compared to the AphO and IPhO exams in recent years.

The excellent achievements of the Vietnamese national team at IPhO 2024 continue to affirm the quality of general education; at the same time, affirm the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training.
