This afternoon, at the regular press briefing, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Pham Thu Hang provided information on the work of protecting Vietnamese citizens amidst the tense situation at the border between Thailand and Cambodia.
The spokesperson said that on December 9, Vietnamese representative agencies in Cambodia and Thailand issued a warning to Vietnamese citizens to reconsider traveling to areas with complex security situations and to proactively plan to leave these areas to ensure the safety of their lives and property.
Citizens should strictly comply with the regulations and guidelines of the local authorities; and maintain contact with Vietnamese representative agencies in Thailand and Cambodia.

Currently, most citizens in this area have been evacuated to safe areas, far from the combat zone, as directed by local authorities.

In response to the new developments, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has consulted with relevant authorities to assess the situation and directed Vietnamese representative agencies in the host countries to monitor the situation, proactively maintain close contact with local authorities and Vietnamese community leaders to gather information, and prepare necessary contingency plans for citizen protection.
To receive assistance in case of need, the spokesperson advises citizens to contact the hotline of the diplomatic mission and the Citizen Protection Hotline, Ministry of Foreign Affairs at +84 981848484, +84 965411118; email: baohocongdan@gmail.com.
