At the Political Consultation session, Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang welcomed Deputy Minister Valeria Csusaki to visit Vietnam, on behalf of the Government and people of Vietnam, sent congratulations to the Government and people of Uruguay on the occasion of the 200th National Day (August 25, 1825 - August 25, 2025).
Expressing her joy in visiting Vietnam and conveying warm congratulations to the Government and people of Vietnam on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day and 50th anniversary of national reunification, Deputy Minister Valeria Csusaki highly appreciated the great achievements that Vietnam has made in the process of innovation and international integration.
The two sides had a comprehensive exchange of views on the situation in each country, bilateral relations as well as international and regional issues of mutual concern. Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that Vietnam attaches importance to developing relations with Uruguay in its overall foreign policy towards Latin America; highly appreciated the participation of Uruguayan political party delegations at the upcoming 80th Anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, considering this a vivid demonstration of the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two countries across the Party, State and people channels.

For her part, Deputy Minister Valeria Csusaki highly appreciated Vietnam's development goals and expressed her wish that the two sides would enhance substantive cooperation in areas of potential and strength such as science and technology, innovation, digital economy, agricultural development, high-quality human resource training, private sector development, as well as coordination in international integration processes. The Deputy Minister affirmed that Uruguay considers Vietnam a priority partner in Asia and wishes to work with Vietnam to become a bridge to promote trade and investment between Southeast Asia and South America.
The two sides also agreed to implement many measures to strengthen bilateral relations in the coming time, including promoting the exchange of high-level delegations and all levels; effectively promoting bilateral cooperation mechanisms such as the Political Consultation between the two Foreign Ministries, the Joint Committee on Economic - Trade and Investment Cooperation; reviewing, updating and perfecting the legal framework for cooperation in the fields of trade, customs, agriculture, science and technology. The two sides agreed to coordinate in building a "Vietnam Space" in the capital city of Montevideo, expanding cooperation in culture, sports, education and training, etc.

Notably, the leaders of the two Foreign Ministries agreed to work together to promote the launch of negotiations on the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), of which Uruguay is a member, considering this an important foundation to expand bilateral trade and investment. The two sides also affirmed that they will continue to strengthen coordination and support each other at international organizations and multilateral forums, including the United Nations, while promoting cooperation between Vietnam, ASEAN and Latin American regional mechanisms.
During her visit to Vietnam, Deputy Foreign Minister Valeria Csusaki met and worked with leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and visited a number of economic establishments, historical and cultural relics in Hanoi.
