By combining the strengths and resources available to both parties, this relationship aims to provide an extensive flight network and seamless connectivity for passengers between Vietnam and China through flight schedule coordination and codeshare cooperation.
To facilitate connecting flights, the two airlines have launched a through check-in service, allowing passengers to receive boarding passes for up to three connecting flights at their first point of departure.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung, Head of Planning and Development Department of Vietnam Airlines, said that the joint venture with China Southern Airlines marks a new chapter in the cooperation between the two airlines, demonstrating Vietnam Airlines' shared commitment to providing superior value and convenient connections for passengers flying between China and Vietnam.
Assessing the joint venture with Vietnam Airlines as an important step in China Southern Airlines' internationalization strategy, according to Mr. Zhang Dongsheng, Deputy General Director of China Southern Airlines' Commercial Steering Committee, the airline will link the Greater Bay Area route with Vietnam's "Two Corridors, One Belt" initiative, promoting regional economic , trade and cultural exchanges through establishing an aviation bridge between the Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macau Greater Bay Area and Vietnam.
Through this partnership, the two airlines aim to enhance air connectivity and make a meaningful contribution to the economic, cultural and social development of the two countries. This joint venture reflects a long-term vision to provide more choice, better service and greater convenience to passengers in both countries.
Vietnam Airlines, as the national airline of Vietnam, owns an extensive flight network with direct flights between Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City and Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing and Nha Trang with Tianjin, Wuhan, Nanjing, Shanghai, Jinan, Changzhou, Wuxi. During peak season, the airline operates more than 50 flights per week.
Currently, China Southern Airlines is operating direct flights from Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, Wuhan and Shanghai to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Nha Trang, with a peak frequency of up to 111 flights per week./.
