Viettel Group said that during the heavy rains and widespread flooding in the North after Typhoon Yagi, the telecommunications network infrastructure was severely affected because power outages interrupted the operation of broadcasting stations, and landslides cut transmission cables connecting stations and provinces. These information interruptions were also more difficult to overcome due to flooding or road cuts.
With the efforts of the entire team, by September 12, Viettel had restored mobile communications in all the northern mountainous provinces. The number of stations and cable lines with interrupted information in the network in these provinces is currently less than 5% (in locations with severe landslides, completely isolated from the roads and taking a long time to reach).
Viettel network has been completely restored in the provinces of Bac Kan , Lang Son, Dien Bien, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen...
Viettel also prioritizes restoring communication and providing SIM cards in communes and districts as soon as landslides occur to ensure communication for rescue teams, such as Phuc Khanh commune, Nam Luc commune (Lao Cai), Ca Thanh commune ( Cao Bang ).
Viettel supports emergency contact accounts for over 2 million customers in nearly 20 provinces and opens 500 phone charging points.
