On the evening of June 15, in Phan Rang - Thap Cham City ( Ninh Thuan Province), the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan Province coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to solemnly organize a ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate inscribing "Cham pottery art on the List of intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection" and opening the Ninh Thuan Grape - Wine Festival in 2023.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Tran Quoc Nam, Chairman of Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee, said that currently, Cham people in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces still maintain the traditional pottery craft in Bau Truc pottery village, Ninh Phuoc district (Ninh Thuan province) and Binh Duc pottery village, Bac Binh district (Binh Thuan province). Cham pottery craft is not simply a production technique, creating specific products, but also a convergence, containing many secrets, skills, and experiences passed down from generation to generation.

As for grapes, this is a typical crop of Ninh Thuan province. The Ninh Thuan Grape - Wine Festival was first held in 2014, and has since become a traditional festival of Ninh Thuan province, held every two years to honor grape growers and the value of grapes and grape products.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha congratulated and commended the results and achievements that the Party Committee, government, army and people of all ethnic groups in Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan provinces have achieved in the past time. Especially the contributions of generations of artisans and Cham people; at the same time, he appreciated the hands, minds, and hard work of Ninh Thuan farmers.

UNESCO's recognition of Cham pottery art as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding affirms Vietnam's unique cultural identity in the world's cultural heritage; and highlights the role of women in modern society.
In addition, the organization of the Grape - Wine Festival is an opportunity to honor farmers, businessmen, scientists and also an opportunity to exchange, share cooperation opportunities, promote and bring the Ninh Thuan grape - wine brand to the domestic and international markets; over time it will become a cultural feature of Ninh Thuan land and people.

“From Cham pottery art to Ninh Thuan vineyards, it shows that cultural values that are built up over a long period of time and are persistent in people’s daily lives will become the spiritual foundation of society, both a goal and an endogenous strength, an important driving force for the development of the country and homeland. Therefore, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Ninh Thuan province need to have more specific and practical plans to preserve, conserve, revive and promote tangible and intangible cultural values, improve the material and spiritual life of the people, create a cultural environment in the community, especially in the family cultural space and even in cyberspace,” Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized.
On the same day, President Vo Van Thuong visited Bau Truc pottery village in Phuoc Dan town, Ninh Phuoc district (Ninh Thuan). Here, President Vo Van Thuong inquired about the lives of the villagers and visited the exhibition area of Cham pottery products at the Bau Truc craft village community house.
The ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate recognizing “Cham pottery art as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding” and the Ninh Thuan Grape - Wine Festival 2023 took place from June 13 to June 18 with 12 very unique, attractive, large-scale provincial-level activities on culture, sports and tourism and many other response activities from districts and cities in Ninh Thuan province.
