Vinh Long: The project of applying technology of industry 4.0 to develop tourism has achieved many positive results.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vinh Long province has sent report No. 113/BC-SVHTTDL to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism on the implementation of the Project "Applying technology of industry 4.0 to develop smart tourism, promoting tourism to become a spearhead economic sector".

The report said that the implementation of the Project "Application of Industry 4.0 technology to develop smart tourism, promoting tourism to become a spearhead economic sector" is considered one of the important goals. In the past time, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province has urgently implemented the Project on 5 aspects: Perfecting institutions, policies and laws on smart tourism development; Developing digital data systems in the tourism sector; Developing applications; Developing information technology infrastructure; Training and developing human resources.

After a period of implementation, the Tourism sector of Vinh Long province has basically organized and implemented a number of contents in the Project "Application of technology of industry 4.0 to develop smart tourism, promoting tourism to become a spearhead economic sector.

In particular, focusing on promoting tourism on tourism information pages and smart tourism applications. Specifically, the Vinh Long Electronic Tourism Information Portal and Smart Tourism Application (on Android and iOS operating systems) have been built and put into use with more than 8,626,387 visits so far; Ben Tre Smart Tourism Application (on Android and iOS operating systems) has more than 5 million visits so far, nearly 213,000 application downloads; Tra Vinh Tourism Information Page has more than 19,883,157 visits; electronic information pages and Smart Tourism Applications have features to update new technology applications to serve readers, including: information introducing destinations, digital maps, VR 360 virtual tours, automatic narration, 360-degree videos, photo libraries, videos, etc., ensuring necessary data to meet tourists' information needs.

Pay attention to building an electronic trading floor for tourism so that tourism businesses, travel agencies, hotels and restaurants, and OCOP product manufacturing facilities can post their offers on the electronic trading floor, aiming to diversify shopping services for tourists when visiting Vinh Long.

Expanding tourism promotion channels by taking advantage of the positive aspects of social networking platforms to reach many international tourist markets such as Facebook, Zalo OA, Tiktok Coconut Land Ben Tre, Tiktok Vi Vu Vinh Long,... In addition to information pages under the management of local state tourism agencies, local tourism service businesses are very interested in and carry out communication via the internet and on social networking platforms.

Promote the implementation of the Regulations on coordination with the Provincial Police in protecting national security and ensuring social order and safety in the fields of culture, family, physical education, sports and tourism, especially mobilizing units/enterprises/companies/households providing tourism services in the area to participate in digital transformation and proactively put into use application software to serve well the management of unit operations, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, accommodation establishments in the area to register and declare their stay directly on the accommodation management software deployed by the Ministry of Public Security.

According to the general assessment, the Project "Application of technology of industry 4.0 to develop smart tourism, promote tourism to become a spearhead economic sector" was deployed at the end of 2022, after the Covid-19 pandemic, this is a difficult period for the tourism industry in orienting development after a long period of "hibernation" and significantly affecting the demand for direct tourism tours of tourists. The Project has oriented the tourism industry of provinces and cities to build and orient future communication strategies in the direction of industry and modernity, the search for more expanded tourist markets and access to many sources of information for communication work, building a digital data system on tourism resources and providing good support in state management of local tourism.

In order to prepare a good digital database of the tourism industry to ensure connection and integration with the information system and common management data of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposed that the National Tourism Administration soon issue a framework and technical requirements for the common information and data system so that provinces and cities can apply it to build local information systems to ensure sufficient conditions when required to integrate and connect with the Ministry's shared system.
