VnExpress Marathon Hai Phong announces medals

The image of a ship sailing out to sea and bringing goods to port served as the main inspiration for the design team to create the VnExpress Marathon Hai Phong medal.

The VnExpress Marathon Hai Phong, held on December 17th, was the final race of 2023 in the VM system. While the medals in Hue and Hanoi were imbued with the patina of time, bearing a somber golden hue, the design of the first VnExpress Marathon Hai Phong was a blend of youthfulness and modern flair.

The medal measures 76x100 mm and is silver-colored, symbolizing an industrial city. The design team's inspiration for the overall shape came from ships cutting through the waves, with rudders and anchors, bringing cargo to port. The medal's border is rendered in 3D relief from ropes, representing the mooring ropes used by ships upon arrival at port.

Regarding these details, the organizers shared that the image of the ship and the rope is similar to the VnExpress Marathon system. Over the past year, VM has taken runners to conquer routes across the country and "docked" in Hai Phong - the final destination in 2023.

The Hai Phong Grand Theatre, a building over a century old, is prominently depicted in the center. It is considered a historical witness, observing the city's ups and downs and transformations. Behind the theatre, the Hoang Van Thu Bridge – a new symbol of Hai Phong – is clearly depicted. Seagulls soaring against the blue sky symbolize aspiration and progress.

According to the design team, the blue color on the medal's background is also unique. The transparent effect, allowing you to see through the background, creates a sparkling feeling like the sea surface basking in the sun. "With every product, every design for runners, we always put our heart and soul into it. This is like a gift, a token of gratitude to all the athletes who have accompanied VnExpress Marathon," said a representative of the organizing committee.

On the back, the flame tree flower – the symbolic flower of the port city – is placed by the design team above the words "Finisher - Congratulations". This is a congratulatory message, a tribute to the resilient feet that conquer the port city's roads.

Upon completing the distance as scheduled, athletes will receive medals corresponding to the color of the rope. For the 5km distance, the rope is orange-red; athletes completing the 10km distance will receive medals with purple rope. Turquoise rope is for athletes in the 21km distance. Those competing in the 42km distance will receive medals with dark blue rope.

The VnExpress Marathon Hai Phong will take place on December 17th, and is expected to attract 9,000 participants. This is the final race of the 2023 VnExpress Marathon series.
