Network Slicing: Transforming shared networks into "custom-made" networks.
Previously, all users shared a single network connection, and quality depended on the number of people accessing it simultaneously. This explains why the network was often unstable and laggy during peak hours, especially when watching 4K movies or playing online games.
So, are there any technical solutions that allow customers to choose higher-quality services and connections, and moreover, according to their individual needs? To address this problem, VNPT will apply Network Slicing technology to its network.
By applying Network Slicing technology to the 5G SA (5G Standalone) platform, VNPT's physical network infrastructure will be divided into multiple virtual "slices". Each "slice" is designed separately in terms of criteria such as bandwidth, latency, and reliability. This means that each customer service can have its own optimized, customized connection based on customer needs.

Network slicing technology opens up many practical applications. For example, a smart factory could have its own 5G network tailored to its specific needs to control its production line. Or a seaport could operate thousands of surveillance cameras simultaneously with its own dedicated network.
For public services, by applying Network Slicing technology, VNPT's digital infrastructure will build priority transmission lines according to the specific needs of each user group such as fire services, police, and medical services in emergency and rescue situations.
For individual users, these virtual "slices" will help increase accuracy and reduce latency for high-speed and precision customer activities such as remote drone control or live streaming…
Network API: Accelerating digital services
VNPT has also successfully tested its Network Application Programming Interface (Network API). With Network API, customers can interact directly with VNPT's network to request real-time connection quality settings for the applications and service platforms they are using.
For example, if you are a VIP customer of the MyTV service and want to watch a top-tier football match or a movie, through the MyTV app, you can completely "command" the VNPT network to prioritize the transmission line, bandwidth, and increase data stability so that you can watch the match or movie with the desired speed and transmission quality, smoothly, without lag.
In other words, instead of simply providing bandwidth, by using Network API, VNPT's infrastructure can ensure that it meets the specific needs of each customer group in terms of speed and connection bandwidth in the form of flexible service packages.

According to Rita Mokbel, General Director of Ericsson Vietnam, as 5G opens up new opportunities to diversify service models and optimize revenue, the Vietnamese telecommunications industry is entering a period of strong transformation. Through the application of Network Slicing and Network APIs technologies, network operators like VNPT can develop flexible 5G service packages tailored to different customer groups, industries, and specific needs.
“This not only allows VNPT to provide premium services and price them based on customer usage, but also opens up new business models, increasing value from network infrastructure. VNPT's pioneering pursuit of this strategy demonstrates its long-term vision and leading position in the digital era. We are proud to partner with VNPT as a strategic partner, jointly promoting the development of digital connectivity in Vietnam,” shared Ms. Rita Mokbel.
Mr. Nguyen Nam Long, Deputy General Director of VNPT Group, said that the successful testing and early deployment of Network Slicing and Network API technologies will help VNPT have an open, intelligent, and flexible infrastructure to support businesses, developers, startups, and organizations in developing outstanding digital products and services.
"This step clearly demonstrates VNPT's commitment to building a modern national digital infrastructure, in its journey to work alongside the Government and global partners in promoting the rapid, sustainable, and in-depth development of Vietnam's digital ecosystem," Mr. Nguyen Nam Long affirmed.
