Vo Lao: People unanimously donate land and join hands to expand the road

With more than 130km of rural roads, in recent years, thanks to the investment of the State and the participation of the people, the rate of hardening of roads in Vo Lao commune has reached over 90%, creating favorable conditions for inter-commune and inter-village connections and production development. However, many roads designed and built more than ten years ago have become narrow, degraded, and do not meet actual needs.

En 1 - En 3, La 1 - Lu 3 routes are important traffic axes, connecting the center of Vo Lao commune with the two former communes of Nam Dang and Nam Ma. When first built, the concrete road surface was 3m wide, suitable for the time when the main means of transport were motorbikes and some small trucks. But now, many households have purchased cars and machinery for production, the volume of agricultural products transported is increasing, while the road is small and narrow, causing traffic difficulties.

With more than 130km of rural roads, in recent years, thanks to the investment of the State and the participation of the people, the rate of hardening of roads in Vo Lao commune has reached over 90%, creating favorable conditions for inter-commune and inter-village connections and production development. However, many roads designed and built more than ten years ago have become narrow, degraded, and do not meet actual needs.

From that reality, right from the first days of the two-level government apparatus coming into operation, Vo Lao commune launched the movement "Voluntarily moving fences, unanimously donating land" to implement the project of expanding the above roads.

According to the design, the roadbed is 8m wide, the cement concrete road surface is 6m wide, with a total investment of more than 4.4 billion VND from the commune budget. When completed, the roads are expected to not only completely solve the problem of narrow roads, but also create a new look for rural infrastructure, opening up opportunities for socio -economic development.

Immediately after the launch, along both sides of the road, many households were ready to move fences, cut down trees, and even donate part of their garden land to ensure construction site.

We understand the benefits of road expansion, so people are very excited and ready to participate and support. Those who have land will donate land, those who have strength will contribute. When the road is expanded, traffic will be more convenient, and life will be better.

Mr. Mai Van Dung in La 1 village, said

In En 3 village, the 480m long road of En 1 - En 3 connecting the People's Council - People's Committee headquarters with the commune Party Committee headquarters (formerly the old Nam Ma commune headquarters) is identified as a key expansion point.

Village chief Nguyen Ngoc Huong said: When there was a plan to widen the road, initially, some households did not agree due to concerns about losing production land and affecting auxiliary works. The local government held many meetings, publicized the planning, and clearly explained the long-term benefits of widening the road. Mr. Huong himself set an example by donating 400 square meters of his family's land, thereby creating a ripple effect in the community. When people saw cadres, party members, and village chiefs setting an example, they followed suit. Now people are very excited, even discussing landscaping and planting flowers along the roads to make the countryside more spacious and modern.

That consensus did not come naturally. According to the leader of Vo Lao commune, to create trust, the government has persistently implemented the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people check, people benefit". Before implementation, the commune organized many meetings with people, listened to opinions, and resolved problems. The government also publicized the planning, was transparent in design and estimates, and clearly explained how the investment would benefit and be effective. When people were listened to and directly participated in contributing opinions to decisions, the movement of donating land and contributing to road construction spread more widely.

“The movement was launched in early July, and many routes have been expanded. In the immediate future, about 3km of roads have been and are under construction. In 2025, the commune aims to expand about 10km of rural roads. This is a project that clearly demonstrates the government's attention and the people's consensus.

Road expansion not only helps to solve the need for travel and trade but also has strategic significance for the development of new rural areas in the locality, towards building advanced new rural areas. A wide, modern road will facilitate investment attraction, encourage the development of services and trade, and at the same time open up a new direction in building civilized, green - clean - beautiful rural areas.

In the coming time, together with investment resources, the consensus of the people will continue to be the decisive factor for Vo Lao to complete the goal of expanding rural transport infrastructure, contributing to changing the local appearance after the merger. The new roads will not only expand the space for economic development, but also open up trust and consensus, creating a foundation for Vo Lao to develop more and more sustainably.
