The periwinkle garden in Tan Loi 1 area, Tan Hung ward, Thot Not district, Can Tho city, is blooming beautifully these days with many colors such as white, red, pink, and purple…
The periwinkle garden is full of vibrant colors.
The flower garden, covering an area of over 7,000 m² , is planted on land belonging to Mr. Tran Thanh Tam (a local resident). Mr. Tam has leased the land to a group of people for the past few months to grow periwinkle plants for traditional Vietnamese medicine.
Periwinkle is a herbaceous plant, 40-80 cm tall, with upright stems.
The leaves are 3-8 cm long and 1-2.5 cm wide, oblong, pointed at the tip and tapering towards the petiole, latex-free, and grow symmetrically.
Periwinkle flowers grow singly in the leaf axils; the center of the flower is usually yellow or dark red, and it has a distinctive fragrance. This plant is commonly used in traditional Vietnamese medicine.
Many girls captured the moment in the flower garden.
According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, periwinkle has a slightly bitter taste, a cooling nature, and effects such as promoting blood circulation, lowering blood pressure, detoxifying, and promoting urination. It is used to treat amenorrhea, high blood pressure, and poor digestion. Periwinkle is mainly grown in An Giang, Binh Dinh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Thua Thien - Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam , and Phu Yen provinces. In Can Tho City, very few places cultivate periwinkle on a large scale.
Ms. Le Thi Diem Thuy (residing in Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) expressed her delight: "Many places in Can Tho grow beautiful flowers, but this is the first time I've seen a field of periwinkle flowers with such vibrant colors. I invited many close friends to wear ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) and go to the flower garden to take beautiful photos."
