At the state banquet held during the German President's state visit, Princess Kate attracted all eyes when she wore the British Royal Family's famous Oriental Circlet crown for the first time.

The appearance was seen as a symbolic moment that could signal a shift in her royal role.

Princess Kate and Prince William entered the hall in formal attire. Princess Kate wore a gorgeous Jenny Packham dress with a distinctive plunging neckline, sequined skirt and flowing cape, highlighting her noble beauty.

According to Tatler magazine, the Oriental Circlet tiara was crafted by jeweler Garrard in 1853 under the direction of Prince Albert for Queen Victoria.

Originally set with opals and 2,600 diamonds, Queen Alexandra later replaced the opals with rubies, believing the latter to bring bad luck. However, the original structure of the crown, which was inspired by Indian architecture with lotus motifs and Mughal domes, remained.

Over the past century, this tiara has rarely been seen. Queen Elizabeth wore it most and considered it one of her favorites.

She wore the Oriental Circlet tiara in several official portraits taken in 1939, 1950 and 1953.

During the reign of Queen Elizabeth II, the jewelry appeared only once, during a visit to Malta in 2005.

Because of this rare appearance, Princess Kate's choice of the Oriental Circlet team this time is considered an important moment.

Previously, she often favored the Lover's Knot tiara, which was associated with the image of Princess Diana. The decision to switch to another tiara from the royal collection is considered symbolic, possibly signaling a change in Kate's royal role.

The state banquet at Windsor Castle is part of a three-day state visit by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife.

Along with the Prince and Princess of Wales, King Charles III, Queen Camilla and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were also present at the party. The event took place while Buckingham Palace was undergoing renovations, so Windsor was chosen as the main venue.

Before the dinner, the royal delegation welcomed the German President and his wife in the castle grounds. The welcome ceremony included an honor guard, a royal salute, the two countries' national anthems and a military parade. Afterwards, members of the British royal family and guests attended lunch and toured an exhibition of royal collections with German connections.

The state banquet is considered the highlight of the visit. The King and the German President gave speeches before the dinner. This is not the first time the two sides have met at a state banquet. In March 2023, King Charles and Queen Camilla attended a state banquet at Bellevue Palace in Berlin during their visit to Germany.
