Kinhtedothi - The gifts brought by the No. 2 Task Force of the 2nd Naval Region Command, carrying warmth from the mainland, are a great source of encouragement for the officers and soldiers at the DKI platform to resolutely fulfill their nhiệm vụ and maintain the sovereignty of the southern sea and continental shelf of the Fatherland.
After 16 days at sea, braving rough waves, strong winds, and countless difficulties, the officers and soldiers of Task Force No. 2 of the Naval Region 2 Command and the ship Truong Sa 21 successfully completed their mission of delivering goods and Tet gifts to the DKI offshore platforms; bringing the warmth of spring from the mainland to the remote frontline sea region.
These heartfelt gifts from the home front, imbued with the bond between the military and the people, are a great source of encouragement for the officers and soldiers of the DKI offshore platform to resolutely fulfill their duties, safeguard the sovereignty of the southern sea and continental shelf of the Fatherland; and create a solid foundation for fishermen to venture out to sea and maintain their livelihoods.
Here are some photos from this special voyage.
On January 1, 2025, the Truong Sa 21 ship departed from the port (Ba Ria-Vung Tau province) with the mission of transporting goods and Tet gifts to the DKI offshore platforms. The delegation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Trieu Thanh Tung - Deputy Chief of Staff of Region 2. The ship carried Tet holiday supplies and necessities according to the Ministry of National Defense 's Tet standards for officers and soldiers to celebrate the Lunar New Year (pigs, chickens, sticky rice, banana leaves, mung beans, apricot blossoms, peach blossoms, kumquats, jam, cakes and candies...). The handwritten letter from the son of a soldier stationed on an offshore platform to his father is a particularly touching gift. With a special mission, the Trường Sa 21 ship tore through the darkness, braving the waves and wind for two days and two nights to reach the DKI platform and carry out the task of delivering gifts and New Year greetings. Due to adverse weather conditions with continuous high waves and strong winds, the transportation of goods was very difficult and challenging. The soldiers securely anchored the ropes to tie the goods onto the boat. The kumquat trees in pots are carefully secured to keep the fruit, leaves, and branches intact when they are placed on the trellis. Transporting goods by sea in a rocking, swaying manner is not easy at all. When the weather is calm and the waves are gentle, transporting goods will be easier. However, during strong winds and high waves, in the vast open sea, the boat would appear and disappear suddenly, sometimes seemingly as if it were being "swallowed" by the waves. During the cargo transfer process, there were days when the sea was rough, with waves roaring beneath the ship, making the transfer difficult and requiring the cargo to be transferred via rope. The soldiers had great difficulty attaching the platform's ropes to the ship's cargo ropes. The goods are tied to ropes and connected to the platform's ropes. The platform crew will have to make an effort to pull the goods back. After a difficult journey, the task force successfully delivered enough supplies for the offshore platforms to celebrate Tet (Lunar New Year). The gifts delivered to the offshore platform contain so much love and affection from the mainland for this frontier outpost in the sea. The delegation presented Tet gifts to the officers and soldiers at the DKI/21 offshore platform. In a joyful atmosphere, the officers and soldiers on the DKI platform made banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) and sang songs about soldiers on the platform. Spring had arrived on the DKI platform in such a simple yet warm way.
